THIEVES!

That sucks. Monitor ebay etc for someone in your area selling a pandora without knowing much anything about it?

Craigslist too and Pawn shops. Last year my bike got stolen at college, later that weekend there was a fellow selling about 5 different bikes on ebay.

i say threaten to nuke the town unless you get your pandora back, a biology student must be able to put something explosive together

NEWSFLASH ---- Wisconsin Under Martial Law as Pandromeda Strain Zombie Outbreak ravages the City--Bio-terrorism thought likely---OMG.....Aarrrgghhh!!!------

Keep an eye on ebay for Pandoras being sold in Wisconsin. offer to buy it and pick it up locally. bring baseball bat.Let the dice fall where they may. ;)

that sucks thieves should be executed (in the street on the spot no trial no jail just on the spot totally fair you steal you die) and do not deserve to live F off and die you thieving rats rot in hell

Hmm, it might be worth asking for a look at any relevant CCTV footage (it's possible there is some).

Sorry to hear mate, I can feel the white hot rage even here. That story with the neighbour and the broken windows is truly appalling. I would have filed a complaint with whatever is over the local police - and I maybe would have done something to that neighbour, too. After moving out of course. Nobody f*s with me in an illegal way and get's away clean if I can help it. I guess I'd go batshit paranoid after enduring what happened to you. Cameras are a good bet. If I was American, I'd already pack a gun. But that's a different story and not a recommendation.

I hope you can concentrate on uni and won't have to think about this too much. Stuff like that can wear on people if it keeps happening.

+1 what TitanUranus said. Inquire quickly, most shops etc. delete or record over their tapes if there was no incident.

So I'm pretty certain it's the gang bangers next door that stole my stuff. I found a pieces of a broken petri dish in their garbage while checking cans for my Pandora, and 4 or 5 of them have been wandering drunk up and down the alley every night at about 1:30am since. I even saw one of them peer into a car window as they walked past.

I don't know what to do. I can't call the cops for the reasons I mentioned, and another reason I wont go into, and running out there with a crow bar or my pocket knife probably wont end well. But I don't think I can just let it go and let them keep all of my stuff...

Are you absolutely sure calling the police is not the best thing?

I'm not sure if they actually care about your car insurance if you tell them exactly what has been stolen and where it can be found.

And if they do, you'd probably have to pay a fine, that's it, right?

You'd still get some of your stuff back, that gang would get what it deserves and the fine would be cheaper than buying back your stuff.

I am more worried about my friend, I don't want him to get in trouble with his landlord simply for being nice to me and giving me a place to stay while I'm in between places. Again the police around here are usually more interested in harassing people than trying to help them. There is also another reason which again I'd rather not go into, but suffice it to say that my friend can get into more trouble than just his landlord if the police were to be involved.

My poor beloved little Pandora is probably trashed or given away by now anyway :(

Second only to rapist and tied with murderers are thieves.

I had my original gp2x and super-cool 17” Dell XPS laptop [with only copy of final project for doctorial level course] stolen from inside of my house a few years ago. I did the pawn-shop searches, police report, and all that to no avail.

The main way I was able to get over the loss was to pity the low-life who stole them.

It hurts now, but at the end of the day it is just material things. Keep your conscience clean and try not to harbor feelings of anger and hate.

If these are the “gang banger” types then you will have to lower yourself [many levels] to deal with them so don’t do it.

And you can be sure as hell that they will call the cops if you burst one of their skulls.

Get on with your life and studies, your success will be the ultimate retribution.

You could always put up a reward sign saying that you left it on the roof of your car and drove away...

I totally understand where you are coming from with the police. My landlord (a woman in her 50s that's a very slow mover after a bad car accident a few years ago) was seeing a man that she let move in with her after a short time. This guy was a compulsive liar and not much older than me (36, but he looked closer to her age thanks to tobacco and whiskey). My sketch/wierdo alert was on as was my girlfriend's "creeper" alert.

One day my landlord shows up at my door in tears saying its an emergency and that we weren't to let this guy into our cottage. She then said that she was being escorted off of her property by the local sheriff's deputy because this man alleged that she hit him and was abusing him. Yeah right, this woman can't move fast enough to throw a punch, let alone hurt this guy. But the police believed him and let him stay in her house while she had to go get a hotel and file for a restraining order. My girlfriend and I didn't want to leave our place because what's to stop him from breaking in while we were gone?

Good luck, stay safe.

You can find solace in the knowledge that the criminals are having and will continue to have a crappy life.

I'd say the best chance of getting it back is to offer to pay the people who stole it a 'reward' fee should they 'find' it.

Although it seems wrong to do this, given your situation it would seem to be the best possible route, and given that they won't be able to sell it as it isn't a DS they may well bite.

@trix:

I feel your pain.

Now why would anyone in a sane (albeit criminal) mind steal your microbiological samples is beyond me. How can those crooks dream to find any monetary value in those?

Keep the advice of dgame in mind. Violence breeds violence and since you haven't focused on that, you can't win that way, you might get yourself hurt in a way that cannot be undone.

It's too bad what happened. I am sure they won't even know what to do with half of the stuff they stole...

The fact that they took microbiological samples probably shows they were kind of messing around. Seriously if you're a good organized thief you would probably only take what you can easily resell.
