hehe Ive single handedly put a new LCD cable in my pandora.. just after putting new mirrors on our car because somebody kicked them off...

Manlyness +2

Tell it here if the pandora increases your manlyness as well.....

For the woman here it aint bad to increase your manlyness :D as long as you keep at least some femininity.

And here I thought it was going to be a post .. "I put the Pandora in my front pocket, and it increased my manliness". As opposed to "I put it into my back pocket and broked it" :p

"I put my Pandora in my back pocket and decreased my manliness because I sobbed like a baby for 40 days and 40 nights!" Or something to that effect!

I'm still trying to figure out what the best course of action is for my Pandora... I have PTOD and case cracks... Been thinking if to attempt vital surgery myself, ordering the new case parts and cable... or just send it to ED... I think I'm verging on the latter after watching the helpful video he made.

Poke .. the PTOD isn't _that_ bad, as long as you're careful .. biut if you have shaky hands or never gotten into electronics before, may be best to go safe; At least ED is reliable and predictable so its just a matter of shipping delays.

But me, I didnt' want to risk any such funny business myself, just fixed it up myself; I've done a few now, not too bad.

Really, getting into the pandora bottom is trivial and pretty hard to bork; its getting into the LCD that is pretty screwy, that hinge makes you worry when you're prying at it :)

Hmmm ok I might just go for it. I have a fine soldering iron, I just need to grab some precision screwdrivers... and the replacement parts I guess.

It will be ok even if I mess it up I guess since I intend to get a 1GHz once I have a couple more monthly paydays under my belt.

I felt accomplished, too after swapping LCD cables. The biggest problem wasn't the soldering though, iw was removing the bezel from the screen part. Hot damn, did I have to twist and lever! Do the new cases fit snugly without bezel bending and cracking?

It also felt good to build a few tv-out cables, learning to solder to those tiny pins cost quite some nerve but it worked in the end - R.I.P. the connectors killed in action :)

No soldering iron required, it's a zif connector. Easy peasy. I do recommend getting 3 or 4 cables though, just in case. It can take a few tries before you figure out how to get them "just right" that they don't break again.

The video by ED is a bit misleading since he solders the speakers to it but if you buy a LCD cable it comes with new already connected speakers.
