Hi People,

DPAD Mod is what we need for GP2X! I have discovered GP2X has already got a DPAD. How? Just turn your GP2X 180 degrees. Now you have a dpad in the left side of your GP2X. B for left, A for right, X for up and Y for down. Stick Button, Vol + and Vol - can be used as buttons. You can use L and R shoulder buttons with your palm if you need. :p Joystick also can be used for alternative moves in Doom, Duke3D or Quake (Strafe look, turn)! Here's how it looks like:

All we need from developers to have support to rotate the screen 180 degrees and button mapping! I think it may be very good for emulators such as Gnuboy and HU6280.

As an alternative; maybe Kounch can develope a utility to rotate the screen 180 degrees and change the button registers. :)

by george its so stupid I think hes got it

lol well ill be ok with it as it be not that much different than playing N64 games on the pc using a ps1/2 pad

I tried setting up quake to use the buttons as a D-Pad, and I didn't think it worked. You can't slide your thumb around like you can on a normal pad.

Hang on I just tried it again, it does work, at least for quake. I don't think I'd want to hold it upside down though...

Indeed GP2Xengine does it and it is great.

I propose that every emulator implement this feature. It's really useful for certain games. Pretty please?

I like the idea, cannot figure out why it did not occure to me too :)

The joystick can act as one button too so we have three buttons on the right side, just like on the Megadrive standard gamepad.

using this method, the first thing a stranger will notice about you is that you're playing your video games upside down--not that you're playing video games on a psp-knockoff :D

Why do you need to turn it 180 degrees to do that? Can't the dpad be on the right?

this was mentioned a while ago
but its good that someone re-thought it and captured more attention
