And at that point there wasn't really much for them to interfere with. At this point all sorts of things can be effected in ways that one wouldn't necessarily conceive of before hand. But as the circuitry gets smaller uses more power and is generally lighter it gets to be more and more of an issue.

One of the reasons why they were able to do it was that most things were encased in some sort of metal all the way around. This sort of lack of testing shenanigans is what led my friends Nintendo to be more or less fully playable via interference from a PC located 30 feet away.
