Staying private on internet.

LOL! I cracked up, yes we have sex in the US. But because of our fucked up laws, depending on what state you're in, two different people may or may not be allowed to have sex. Depending on age, race, gender, etc. In some places two people can, and in other places the same two people can't. And in the US, you have to be 18 to get a gun license and own one, but often parents let kids use their guns. The cops just look the other way, because its a cultural thing that would be silly to try and stop.

And on topic, I did't read the whole thread, but I assume TOR was discussed. For those who are unaware, about held of the Exit nodes in the US are actually government run and tracked. So, for those who are concerned, just don't use US exit nodes ;)
Yes, it's hard to believe that the USA have the world biggest porn industry. It's really a "50/50" land with 2 completely different sides imho. :D

I've heard, TOR may not be that save like it was in the past, also the chinese gov. can hack into TOR or block it somehow.  I personaly never used TOR, still seems to be a little bit to complex and slow for daily usage. ^^"

Ya, I didnt read the thread. But I assumed it had previously been mentioned. If you just use Tails Distro on a live CD in an internet Cafe, you should be good. Obviouly thats not practical for daily use, but if you need it, its there for you. (See: hacking a friend's facebook account)

TOR ? Complex? Where? You just need to click on a button and that's it.

If you don't know TOR don't spread the rumor that it's complex to use. It's not.

it's resonably trivial to use, as long as you're able to configure your browser to use a proxy, that's the hardest thing you need to do... and that's assuming you don't use an integrated solution like torbutton...

that's what I meant by assuming you don't use an integrated solution :)

it is in itself really secure, but assuming an attacker as enough transit node they can discover who you are, and of course everything that gets out of the TOR is also unprotected... and your browser tend to give way too much informations... and a proxy won't change anything to that...

Not even that, there is a package where a pre configured firefox starts after presing the button...

Exactly.

Is TOR really secure or one of those pseudo secure things?
It's way better than having nothing.

As I said earlier, TOR is good when you have a Tails liveCD in an internet Café. I dont use TOR, but when I first found out about it I became very interested. Also, I dont sugest you use it for clearnet stuff like email, social networking, etc. In this day and age, we really dont know who's running the exit nodes. It could be an honest neckbeard in Munich, or an NSA oprative spoofing a german IP. So if you use TOR, as long as you only access .onion sites, its very secure. Anything else (.com, .org, .edu, .YourCountryNameHere) and you are very much at risk. In fact, you're safer using a VPN than a TOR exit node simply because what happens in TOR is more "interesting" to the NSA than what happens in "Free VPN Pro Torrent without Limits for Free only €9.99/second"

True, that's why I wrote "I've heared". ;)  If it is indeed so easy to use, I give it a try. I plan to buy an SSD and together with this, a complwete new and clean installed OS, so it's a good opportunity to make the system save right from the beginning. My buddy also suggest to encrypt my E-Mails, I guess I sould also do this but I don't know much about that. There are various ways to do it.

What gun license ? Also I would like to point out almost any country that allows " private " , no matter how strict ( you NSA *%#£ers better read this :p ) allows ownership of 22 long rifle firearms , which has the title of most kills with a civilian round ( one of the weakeast , but still deadly very deadly commercially available rounds ) .

For those of you that were and are in the armed forces and don't like guns : I DO NOT AGREE WITH WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY , BUT I'LL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT - VOLTAIRE ( one of my all time favorite quotes , wish more US Politicians knew and followed it ) .

Also why are people so surprised ( at what NSA is doing ) , back in my day as a playground transformer warlord I could tell what my rivals were planning by promising a friend half my cookie at lunch to infiltrate the enemy's base and pretend to be one of them and then , right as the bell rings , tell me all they knew . There have always been ways to keep tabs on people . Now it can be done by 20 somethings working at NSA without ever needing a way with words and poker face .

Well, I am not surprised. The philosophical base of thinking in America is pragmatism,

while here humanism still has a traditional base too, although it gets weakened every year.

I do not want someone to spy on me, so I do not spy on others.

2bit, why does it say "gun owner" in your title. Is that an abnormal thing in Oregon?

Just because you dont spy on someone, doesnt mwan others wont spy on you. Just dont do anything stupid and you'll be ok.

I'm trying to get it to sound normal as ( no offense everyone ) but in a lot of places it's as if by taking advantage of your right ( I firmly believe it is a human right for the able and able minded to have access to be able to empower yourself ) its treated as if your the guy who beats the family on the church steps on Sundays with stick no bigger around then your thumb . Also it's very common . :) last year in Agriculture class when it was a slow day , and the class was behaving well we could drag the teacher off subject with questions like ? What would a 300 win.Mag do to a moose at 600 yards , followed by I heard Chris Kyles preferred round was a 300 win. Mag , followed by Actually I prefer the 300 ultra mag , WELL SOMEBODY's compensating ...

By the way, has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

... yeah. Maybe there's an obscure cultural thing in Oregon where ill-intentioned people attack families near churches with sticks no larger than approximately the size of their thumbs. Or maybe you need to rephrase that statement so your readers have a small chance at following your train of thought.

He's saying that most Europeans have a lot of negative connotations and preconcieved notions relating to guns that are higly unwarrented. I agree with him :)

Oh sorry , There's an obscure law ( no longer on the books thank Gorsh ) in one our cities ( in the us ) where a man could beat his wife or kids , on the church steps , on Sunday , provided the stick was as only as thick as their thumb . I'm assuming this even when legal , was rather bad form .
