Snesemu running at 156mhz

You may as well do a 166mhz one its faster (a zip this time, no one uses rar) not totally full speed in everything but nicer than 156 ;).

Also for those of you who have GenEmu, at 166mhz its full speed on most games, real full speed just like the real thing. Very nice for ghouls and ghosts.

*Drool* I tried to hack it earlier but didn't get far. Besides I can only go to 156 but I guess that will be close to full speed.

Vicious_L: You might just be one of those people who can't run overclocked games. Have you tried any other program which has overclocking in it's menu, e.g doom or GPengine. That way you'll be able to see how far you can push your GP before it crashes.

The majority of people only seem to be able to reach 156 whereas a few lucky ones can go to 166. A minority of people have trouble getting past 140.

I seem to remember the clock settings come before the clock speed in genem and snesemu, not sure if thats any help, or indeed if that is the case in all emus.

yeh make sure those roms're not zipped or something, also

--EDIT--
now hexedit the lynx emu and speed that up too ! YEEHAAW it's hexediting madness!
No need to hex edit it i have been compiling it with different clock speeds.

But making the speed faster doesn't make it faster :(

I set the speed to 66mhz from 133 and it was still the same speed

The video needs to be replaced i think it just to slow to show on screen :\

Im gonna see about replacing some stuff with asm hoping to get some of it faster at least. Altho im no programmer i can tell u that making it faster doesn't do anything :\

Need to re-write some of the code to get it to work.

Are you willing to share instructions as to how I get Genemu or fgen32 to 156mhz? I'm dying to try it.

Well its easy, Say this is what you would put in for snes9x if you want it to run at 166mhz:
40 B3 D5 09 01 F0 02 00
For snesemu, I put in this:
01 F0 02 00 40 B3 D5 09
Its just putting one before the other. I suppose its the same for genemu as well.
So if you wanted to change snesemu to 156, you would do a search for 11 a0 03 00 00 29 de 07, and replace it with 01 c0 02 00 00 5f 4c 09.

That doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Surely changing both emu's to 166 would require the same hex input whereas you have different values shwon.

I've tested both emu's overclocked (SNES9XGP 0.97f and SnesEmu) and I've come to the conclusion that although SnesEmu is obviously faster SNES9XGP at FS4 is the same speed except with less FPS. Keep in mind though that SNES9XGP has saves and brightness (which are two very nice features!!) and greater compatibility so I'd have to say I prefer SNES9XGP overclocked and I don't mind the frameskipping that much.

Yeah, nomod deserves the REAL credit, but I wasnt really trying to receive credit in the first place considering I had nothing to do with the development of this emu.

AHHH! wont work!!

when i run snes156 all i get is a blank screen! :(

plz help!

I hexed SNES9XGP to 150mhz for those who can't run in 156 or 166mhz. You can get it HERE. If it still won't run just tell me and I can hex a 144mhz one.

If you can run it at 156Mhz, you should most likely also be able to run it at 160Mhz, try the Atari ST emulator for example.

I still don't think I would want to play snes games on snesemu. It may be full speed, but no saves, no sound, no changing controls, no brightness setting, and more bugs than snes9xgp.
