New battle system for Shenmue 3: https://player.vimeo.com/video/130940385
I purchased Shenmue 1 in Tokyo, Japan Day 1 and then finished it a couple of months later. I didn't know Japanese back then. Twasn't easy, you know. How is that sad ?Sadly, I only played the PAL version of Shenmue II
If you dont understand Japanese, not only it is difficult to finish, but you are missing the most important parts of the game because they occur through dialog.I purchased Shenmue 1 in Tokyo, Japan Day 1 and then finished it a couple of months later. I didn't know Japanese back then. Twasn't easy, you know. Shenmue 2, Japanese version was also completed with great difficulty.
I would have preferred Microsoft. It could worse if Microsoft gets involved
Worse than what? Sony, Microsoft, vendor lock in on both sides - nothing good for anyone anyway. It could have been worse if Microsoft gets involved
lol looks like you know what you are talking about. It seems that most of the lasting appeal of Shenmue was that under all the gloss it was a ridiculous and silly game. I can't even remember what Shenmue 2 is like - maybe I should try that instead?
Well given that the drudgery of Shenmue 1 has utterly put me off attempting to play Shenmue 2 again despite owning copies of both, perhaps I don't. But it's pretty clear to me in hindsight that Shenmue is more hype than substance.lol looks like you know what you are talking about. It seems that most of the lasting appeal of Shenmue was that under all the gloss it was a ridiculous and silly game. I don't know what to expect about the third one actually. It depends if they are trying to make a game like the current ones or if they try to make it more like the older games. On top of that while they are reusing the same team members, everyone has aged and is probably not as hard working or motivated as before anyway, I can't think it can be anywhere remotely as good as Shenmue was in the first place.Given that you place the first two games in such high regard, and that Shenmue 3 will be a "current game", how exactly do you think it's going to hold a candle to the originals?
