Either way, it's still not as good as having a dedicated connection to your phone, because Pidgin relies on having a connection to the internet.

Hmm... I think Bloove also requires an internet connection because it allows you to access your phone but only via the website I think.

I don't know for sure because I can't test it :(

No I dont think you need to access it via the website. As far as I can tell you run a (web)server app on your phone and run the browser on the pandora to connect directly to your phones web server

But doesn't running the browser on the Pandora mean you'll need to be connected to the internet?

No, you create an ah-hoc wifi connection between the phone and the Pandora. The Pandora then connects to the phone's web server, as I understand it.

Hmmm well that would make this even better than I thought it was :p

Of course we still need to test this haha.

I've just convinced my parents to let me buy one, and I've just ordered it :D
But it'll only arrive in October I think :(
Which sucks :(

Yea would be cool if it did work.

Please, don't get your hopes up for October. Think early-mid 2011.

You can do this from pidgin =|

Just add a number ie +15553336666 as a buddy in AIM and IM away.

this is interesting

but

a) does it cost any money? (it must do?!!) and, more importantly
B) can you receive messages
No, it is free for YOU to send and receive. The person who is receiving the sms however has their on charges depending on their plan of course...

What, so whoever receives the text has to pay? That doesn't seem right :S

And when we ordered from the first batch, the email said December 2009.

Valid point :p

I just thought that by now they'd be able to properly estimate how long production would take.

Ouch, off by a year... I guess it's true that our minds make us forget the bad memories to keep us sane.

Also, I think at first it was November 2008.

Off by a year, yeah, but I'm pretty sure it was December 2008, not November, wasn't it? Eh, doesn't matter, point is it was wrong. It's always wrong and will continue to be wrong. :(
I'm going back to my room to cry my salty tears.
