Can someone explain me how to format a sd card, because i have a sd card from Sandisk 1gb and the card is empty but there is still 900mb on it?

Thx

What operating system?

On Windows, right click on it in "My Computer" and click format.

On Linux, unmount it and run 'mkdosfs /dev/<the partition node>'

On Mac I would do it the same way as on Linux but there's probably a 'nicer' way to do it.

Use Disk Utility (Applications\Utilities\Disk Utility) and "erase" the disk. You can pick a format there too...UNIX/MasOS) (some have claimed you can choose Windows FAT, but it doesn't look like an opion on OSX 10.39)

But in truth, I found my A-Data 2gig SD works best when formatted on a Windows machine.
