I had a pretty dumb idea a couple of month ago. I don't remember if I have already posted anything about it. I thought, it would be a great idea if we could get a few people together and put together some sort of a gp32x scene parody game.

It could include a bunch of rather familiar and odd characters as protagonists/antagonists, notorious characters like wwerty, that crazy israelian guy who wanted to sue everyone, some oddballs and veterans from the forum and maybe revolve around some crazed out story for example us going on a suicide mission to save the gp2x development scene from evil software patent supporters or crap like that.

I figured, it could be sort of a simple commandos clone meaning you have to break into company compounds (how about an isometric view to it, or maybe oldschool rpg?), then try to avoid guards (thus the commandos reference, maybe you need to avoid getting into their range of sight) and for example collect some object from a safe or smash an office computer, steal unreleased equipment for the gp2x (bob!!!) from gph, collect a stash of confiscated crack for zodttd so he doesn't have to sleep while coding, escort sam fisher all the way home before 8 o'clock, free telcolou from the mental ward blablabla thousands of stupid ideas.

Maybe the gp2x would be sorta the main weapon with which you could stun people using wifi and open doors/hack computers using a simple mini-game. something like that.

What do you guys think? Doesn't have to be all too complicated, so try and think of the missions I proposed as to be set up by the same simple rules, open door, avoid guards, find object... that sort of thing.

How about a Pirates! clone where we plunder Genesis, SNES, and NeoGeo riches? :D

I once thought of writing an Epicenter emulator, a bot that would complain about anything you talk about. It would be codenamed "triple A" as in Advanced Automatic Asshole.

While this is probably never going to happen, in my world of make-believe this would be an Earthbound-style game, with a weird sense of humour and simple cartoony graphics.

But I think I would have passed the nerd point of no return if I played a video game about a messageboard that talks about videogames, and then came on said board and posted about it.

well... i don't think passing the nerd point is a bad thing ^^

If anyone is up for it, contribute some ideas. Earthbound style graphics would be fun aswell.

How about C64 Commando graphics/gameplay?

And if we do this, it must be crazy, from the location settings to graphics to ideas. We should really organize something, this could be a scene classic :)

I would be up for it. It has to be crazy, of course! C64 graphics are a little too simple, I'd think. I would settle for 256 colours right away though :D
