Is R-Type 2 a continuation of R-Type 1 (i.e snake level. Level 5, I think)? I remember R-Type 2 starting differently.

Yes.

The HUcard release of R-Type was released in 2 cards.

The first card contained the first 4 levels while the second card contained the last 4.

What about "R-Type Complete"?. I haven't managed to get past level 4 yet  but going by the size (double) it may contain both. Just guessing going by the size.

R-Type Complete? For TG16? Didn't know they had that.. I'd assume it was just a fat hucard with the whole R-Type 1 in it. (As above, R-Type 2 is just part 2 of R-Type 1 and not R-Type 1 sequal.)

In Japan, R-Type was released on two Hu-Cards, each card with a different half of the game. The second half was confusingly called "R-Type 2" despite not actually being R-Type 2. In the US, both halves were put on one Hu-Card as "R-Type". Then, in Japan, the full game was put on CD with a remixed CD soundtrack as "R-Type Complete".

Did that help? Haha.
