Question About Buying A Gp2x At.....

the processors in the gp2x are same between units. i have heard it said that the default speed is 200mhz. this is the speed that the stock firmware runs applications at. i have also heard that the speed rating of the chips is 240mhz, and that the firmware is underclocking. i tend to believe the latter as there is a very small number of gp2xs (from what i have seen on these boards, anyway) that cannot clock to 240.

so in terms of what's included, yes they are the same. craigix is probably double checking that his units get to 240 (although again it's unlikely that they wouldn't) since he makes the claim.

so the difference in price is not due to what's included. also, what's included isn't really worth getting excited over. you'll probably just want to keep the console and get rid of the hand strap etc. don't know how good the batteries are.

The different prices come because of different VAT, import tax, etc.
But the price also can differ when you buy:
Depending on where you are, you have to pay VAT and import tax when you import it, so it can be that the price will be the same in the end.

With Play-asia, you buy directly in Asia, so I think that you don't pay all the taxes that you should pay when your product enters Europe. Theoretically, they should attach the bill to the packet, and the customs could ask you to pay the taxes.

At http://www.play-asia.com and http://gp2x.co.uk/indexgp2x.html are the value packs exactly the same? Becuase the play asia one seems alot cheaver than the 210.00 dollar one at http://gp2x.co.uk/indexgp2x.html

Also the description of the play asia one says 200mhz cpu while the one at http://gp2x.co.uk/indexgp2x.html says 240mhz.

Congratulations, dude. You managed to convert from GBP to USD

Seems pretty strange that there are other currencies than Dollar, huh? ;)

...but then he continues to refer to the price on a UK site in dollars. Americans really make me sigh!

Especially the ones that really believe that 'US' is the worlds default setting.

i don't get it...exchange rates aside, isn't this still a legitimate question?

he used dollars because that's what he's going to use to buy it...shocking. but i guess it's my ethnocentrism that's caused me to overlook the value of doing exchange rates in your head.

anyway craigix might have to incur more importing and shipping costs to get them in stock. dunno though IANACustoms officer.
