this makes me wonder if porting PSfreedom was wise... Just being honest and open on the topic...

On the one hand, no one (especially OPT) has done anything wrong.
On the other hand, and something I've argued in the past, that doesn't matter. Sony just keeps throwing lawyers at the defendants until they run out of money and are forced to surrender. You think 2 years has been a long wait? Sony could tie them up for another 2 or 3. They may eventually lose the case, or it gets dismissed, but the damage will have been done. Pandora has barely survived this long, I doubt they could hold up under that kind of onslaught.
On the other other hand, with not even 1000 units, they're too small of fish even for Sony, I think. I don't think we need to worry.

Sony can't do anything. Some USERS compiled it and put it up somewhere, they can't take on OpenPandora for that. Not even a close call. And it's not in the official apps store anyway.

Also, there is already a version available for maemo, dingoo and what more. Can't possible take them all on and indeed pandora would be too small a fish.

IMO, nothing to worry about. (No law expert though)

Cheers!

OP are untouchable in this regard, they are neither selling nor distributing the software. The software can also run on jailbroken iphones connected to the PS3, are they going to sue apple too? I read somewhere it can even be installed to the dual shock 3 controllers, should they sue themselves? The pandora at the end of the day is a computer and whatever software people decide to port and run on it cant be the responsibility of OP... Just like Acer wouldnt be responsible if you used your laptop for shady activities...

Use some common sense...

Common sense and lawsuits frequently miss each other standing in the same room. They don't have to be right to "win". I cite Bleem! for you.

^ The process of something getting lawsuited out of existence by Sony is henceforth known as being "bleemed".

had a response all ready and waiting for lordy after I finshed the rest of the responses... then I saw what Stan and Pro said and realized there wasn't much I could really add... :p Granted OP isn't responsible, they could be brought up on some accomplice type charges... I wouldn't put it past Sony though, remember the individuals they've actually taken part in suing over the whole RIAA/copywrite drama that is slowly becoming global... The fact that we had a port, I feel we should at least keep our radar open for the possibility of BS flying our way from Sony... not really look for it, but be aware enough to see it when it's coming...

GP2X is a WIP.

lorgy can laugh all he wants.... like was mentioned earlier, a conviction is not necessary.... OP could be "Bleemed" out of the picture. We may be too small, but you never know. Better to be aware of the possibility (not preparing, just aware) than not care at all. That's all I'm really saying. Not trying to scare anybody.....intentionally...
