I doubt we'll have to pay for emulators, much like the GP32 scene. I mean if it's the successor we really shouldnt. But I'd expect if someone where to make an original game that they'd try to sell it, assuming they didn't just do it for the fun of making a game.
Lots of people are waiting to know more about software support before they order, but wasn't there a lot of talk a while back about backwards compatibility? Won't we be able to get started straight away with the old GP32 stuff while we wait for new things?
GPH don't own the rights to the gp32 (Gamepark own them) so the gp2x can't be compatible (at least not officially - someone may try something I suppose, but it won't be GPH). It's possible the xgp could be compatible as it's supposed to use an updated version of gpos.
