All the task* package are virtual (as for debian). They are here to help user install sets of packages (by setting some dependency).WizardStan said:task-pandora-xfce I would guess is something specific to the Pandora, possibly related to the task manager? I don't know what it is nor why it relies on Pidgin.
I'm going to suggest not removing Pidgin from the NAND until someone can explain what this package is and why it needs Pidgin.
sudo opkg --autoremove --force-depends remove pidgin

Cheers seems to have worked,WizardStan said:Ah, well that's a relief then. Nothing to worry about. To remove pidgin:
at least that should remove it all, I think... let me check... dang, it doesn't remove all the extras like I thought it would. The plugins and protocols. Ok, do this instead:Code:sudo opkg --autoremove --force-depends remove pidgin
That definitely takes care of everything.Code:sudo opkg --force-depends remove pidgin sudo opkg --force-depends remove pidgin-data sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-plugin-ssl sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-plugin-ssl-gnutls sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-protocol-aim sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-protocol-icq sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-protocol-irc sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-protocol-msn sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-protocol-xmpp sudo opkg --force-depends remove libpurple-protocol-yahoo

Yeh I was clearly looking for a much harder solution,EvilDragon said:meandu229 said:One last thing, how do I remove the shortcut on the bottom bar (or reassign it to the sd pnd) ive looked about in the nand but cant find the file which controls it.
Doesn't Right-Click on that icon show a remove?

You know this can be worked around by turning off audio alerts, right?

Reading this after having removed the task-pandora-xfce package, how do I get it back?
opkg install task-pandora-xfce
