Personally I bought the gp2x for the movie functions (portable anime, oh yes) but everyone else seems to be more bothered about games. Just curious what the split actually was.

I liked the open source spirit.

But the main motivation probably was to use it as a portable image viewer on traveling. Additional it is an audio player and ebook viewer, nice.

And sure, video and gaming.

The only thing I miss is the USB host support but that is not a main issue. There are really cheap USB-on-the-go bridges available.

I'd say equal odds of both. Portable anime? Oh yes. Portable classic films? Ooooh yes. Portable classic games? Huzzah! Portable new games? Well, that's nice too.

Alltogether, should keep me occupied for quite some time and be great for flights.

Though, as Sin has said, games are more space-efficient. I imagine I'll be having two SD cards, one in the large range and one on the smaller end of the scale, with the large one reserved for media.

sWolfai, what sort of hardware would you be using with the USB-on-the-go bridge? I think those won't cut it for me, but that's because I have a 250GB USB HD and I believe they only allow indiscriminate file transfer. If I'm wrong, I'm overjoyed, but...

I'd say both are equale, but I ticked "mostly movie" because I can play most of the games I want (emulated old games & doom) on the GP32, so the increased movie support was a big factor in the upgrade. . .

I haven't bought one yet, but I plan to eventually, mostly for games. I'm waiting for perfect SNES emulation. However, the support for extra video formats is good too. I have a few videos on my GP32 card, but I mostly play Tecmo Super Bowl for NES on it.

Yep. Just a small device to copy files. On one side there is a USB port labeled "source" and on the other side ther is the "target" slot. And the reason I need this is to get images from my Sony camera (MemeoryStick) onto the SD card (EDIT: without PC).

The copy machine is just USB 1.1 and therefore really slow but for EUR 25,-- I am not asking any questions. Runs with two AAA batteries and is smaller than my cardreader (3rd party, but it is also recognized by the copy bridge directly).

There should be faster ones out there already. And some days ago I saw an external hdd case including the usb-copy-bridge funcitonality.

I have to agree that there should be a coding option. I'm pretty much using mine for the waffle port ( XD!!!! ) and video. Audio comes in handy too, not having to juggle burnt CDs all over
