Pandora power supply

I've just unearthed my OpenPandora unit, and (of course) the battery is flat and the power supply is missing.

Am I correct in thinking it's a 3.3v 1A PSU with centre-negative plug? (For that little round port with a central pin on the back of the unit?)

And can anyone recommend a current source of power supplies for the UK/EU (yes, I can use an EU to UK adapter)?

You can use a Sony PSP-adapter, or the USB port.

The PSP appears to be like this:
  • Output Voltage: DC 5V, 1.5A to 2.0A (2000mA max)
  • Total Wattage: 10 Watts
  • Input Voltage: AC 100V – 240V, 50/60Hz (Worldwide compatibility)
  • Connector Type: 4.0mm x 1.7mm DC yellow-tipped barrel plug
  • Inner Pin (Tip): Positive (+) [DC 5V]
  • Outer Sleeve (Earth/Ground): Negative (-) [0V]

While that looks superficially similar, the output voltage seems -- going from the Pandora hacking guide -- as if it would fry the Pandora!

Have you actually used a PSP adapter?

(Also, which USB port would you charge through? The USB-C one, or USB-A?)

I did indeed use a regular Sony PSP adapter for the Pandora (especially when the battery is empty). The mini-USB port works to, but I think it's usually more power limited.

This is the mini-USB:

Similar question was asked a long time ago here.
My Pandora power supply is:
PowerPax UK
SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY
MODEL: GP007D-050-200
INPUT: 100-240Vac~0.5A 50/60Hz
OUTPUT: 5V 2A (center positive)

How the original looks like

AFAIR 5V and 1A or even less is enough for charging as it is limited by the internal charging circuits (TWL4030 chip).

For the USB port, USB2 usually only supplies 500mA and this is still enough. You can use an USB-C power supply with Mini-USB2-adapter (cable) since it must actively switched to higher voltages than 5V which is beyond the capabilities of the Pandora.

But I recently had a completely drained battery and the Pandora didn't wake up on USB charger. Maybe USB charging must be activated in the boot software. Which doesn't if the Pandora does not even wake up with drained battery. Locating and using the charger helped.
