Pandora 2: Dragonfly or Myriad

Calling it either one makes about as much sense as naming it Phred.

Really - arguing about potential names for a hypothetical future to be designed maybe product is a bit silly.

I say that we call it the Super Perusa....free units for everyone!   :)

...and upon further reflection, I'm against endorsing any sort of Dragon-like name or (Craig-like name for that matter), at this time.  It might drive a wedge into the current OP Team at a time that we can ill afford it.  Even a hint that we're "choosing sides" is a bad idea (IMO).

Who owns the trademark openpandora (electronics and computers)?

Craig? ED? Nobody?

Super Pandora 3.0 : Alpha turbo - Android Edition.

I vote none of those choices.

edit: Upvote Panodra

I'm not entirely certain about all of the details.  I think that Mr.Weston must own the rights to the PCB design(s) - I've seen his mark on the actual boards and Dave C designed (and probably owns the patent to the case?).  Outside of that?  Not sure.  I'd venture an educated guess that the "Pandora" name was not copyrighted, since there are multiple companies using that same moniker.  I'd be interested to know the answers to these questions myself, but I'm a bit apprehensive to pry further at this time.  I doubt that an official member of the team would be that forthcoming either.  Maybe some longtime devs and surrounding "band members"  would know.  People like Notaz, Linux-Swat, Link or Skeezix....My curiousity far outreaches my respectability at this point in my young Forum forays in Pandora-Land.   :D   BTW, how many "warning points" do I need to accrue to get store credit.  I need a bigger SD card...

Super Perusa or Pandora Perusa sounds really cool. :D

I think we should come up with a unique name for the P2, one that will only return results pertaining to it when someone does a search via google, ebay etc. A unique name that will identify it as a standalone product.     Dragonfly is not a bad name ,  but its unfortunately far from unique.  Even Myriad isn't that unique.

Xbox, playstation, iphone, gameboy, Ouya, Wikipad etc etc all product names that have  uniqueness to them and uniquely identify those products.

If the P2 is to be adopted, it has to be found, the easier it is to be found and recognised as a stand alone product by its name , the better.

what about a sub title instead of a new name?

the open pandora : (x) edition

the open pandora : (year) 2014

the open pandora : (definition) HD/ FHD

the open pandora : (weird acronym) zxs

Just stick a word starts with "re" and stick it after pandora 2, that will serve the mass market well.

Pandora 2: retribution, revengence (stupid word), revenge, reloaded, resurrection and so on.

We already used rebirth for the move to Global Components...
oops, you are right.

I was half joking any way.

I'm kinda against change OP's name, 'cause in my personal opinion people like something that sounds familiar.

If we change it to dragonbox, many would not immediately tell if this is the next pandora or just a project shield knock-off.

Exactly, was browsing through the posts if someone already made this comment.

That is why I suggested openpandora, but any other name that is unique should be fine.
