Does anyone have any rumors or hype involing big releases for the coding competition ????

I'm gonna start my own prediction at saying that squidge is gonna announce some shit , I find it hard to believe that he has not been developing for this long .

Im just stoked about the new Dos emulator. Who would have believed we would be playing tyrian on the gp2x.

I'll challenge that prediction. Squidge has made it pretty clear on his webpage that it's not that he hasn't been developing, it's just that he hasn't been developing for the GP2x. Hey, I'd love for him to unleash a spanking new version of Squidgesnes in contest, but I am very doubtful that will actually happen.

Also keep in mind that the judges for the competition might not release the entries for a few days, or even a week or two--depends on what their plan is.

I'm fairly sure the stuff in the competition isn't supposed to be released before monday. From what i've heard it's not even meant to be released till one or two days after.

Btw I'm hoping for a massively improved gp2psx (savestates, proper frameskip)...probably a pipe dream, but who knows. :p

As far as I remember in last years gbax competition, nothing was released until weeks afterwards.

full speed NES with sound would make me happy...

(Oddly enough, full-speed, unscaled, portable NES is one of the main reasons I got a GP2X. I never had any other console until I bought an Xbox and GC within the last couple years... )

Give it rest!

The competition is for a fun and I'd not expect so much improved emus just because there were some prizes. And keep in a mind that haste isn't a good thing when developing something.

If that doesn't happen - it's my goal to improve the NES emulator. My gp2x comes in on Monday (my first one was faulty =\ ) so maybe I can get started then :)

Instead of improved emu's etc. it is normally games that are entered into the competition and normally the most original idea wins. So you get a host of weird and wacky games when they're released.

i would like a program that will hide all folders you dont want to see (like system files) so would make everything so much neater ont he system and more people (non linux minded like myself) will quickly come to grips with it.

or somehting that will always load up your "default" directory instead of having to search for it and withut using shortcut scripts.

In my entry I have new mascot and some old friends if you get what I mean.
It does end tomorrow at midnight right?

Weeks after the compo last time.

it *should* be faster this time, we had alot of entries to get through in the gbax 2005 coding competition (multi console) and there was alot of work doing screenshots, writing information for each entry etc.

for this compo, if entries follow the guidelines it should make our work much easier as we have asked for people to submit a screenshot and some additional information.
