I have been hearing people talk about ogg players and this one guy said he woould fill his whole smc w/ music. So does that mean that the file size of the Ogg music is really small?

If it has the same bitrate it can't be smaller ;)

I guess you wanted to say that a lower bitrate is needed for the same quality

while we're on the subject can someone link me to a ogg convertor.

and sorry in advance if this is forbidden.

ogg is an opensource file format, so no worries about things being allowed. that said i've been looking for a free converter without spy/adware, but haven't had much luck.

Did you even go to the Ogg Vorbis website? They've got links to tons of opensource programs that will do the trick (including their own reference encoder).

The main site is here, the official reference encoder is here, and a short list of Windows programs which support Vorbis files is here.

To clarify earlier statements, look at the post which says (roughly) "at the same bitrate as an MP3, Ogg Vorbis will sound better". What this means is that a 128 kbit Vorbis file sounds roughly like a 192 kbit MP3 file. So, you can get ultra high quality at standard bitrates, or have smaller files at the same quality you're used to. Either way, you win.

Hahaha you're right about that, silly me :). Oh well, back to programming my Gauss-Jordan elimination program...
