GPH do not create the emulators themselves, but don't worry.
craig gathered some devs so the emulators will be released with the system :)

Any hints on what systems is currently worked on for the launch?
But definitly great news.

Excellent to hear that. :) Now I'm happier about pre-ordering my GPX2.

Gamepark holdings is impressing me more and more every damn day! They really want this thing to fly, huh? Catering to customer demands, working with a key member of the homebrew/distribution community... thats excellent.

I know we're in good hands with Craig; he certainly knows his stuff as well as anyone. Damn, hand-picked devs... I wonder whos on that list... :)

I think Rlyeh would be a good candidate as he is working on a suite of emus. I would bet he is involved some how. I would also bet that Reesy is involved too as his DRMD was sponsored by GBAX in the first place. Craig has been known to "donate" hardware to key devs to stimulate developement and the scene.

One doesn't have to be a genius to know that since Craig will be selling GPx2s he would like to sell tons of them. He also knows that if the GPx2 was released with nothing that hardly anyone would buy them right away. So add 2+2 and you get Rlyeh and Reesy working on emus for GPx2. Now if we could get some of the devs of some of the more obscure systems interested like Tuskenraider (full speed Lynx with sound would certainly be possible as it is close now on the GP32) and the Atari 400/800 and C64 guys, and Skeezix for the great Castaway port involved that would be great. The only hole I can see would be SNES as none of these guys have done that in the past. I guess we will see.

Just a note:

GP32Spain is getting 5 or 6 GPX2's from GPH for various devs. And I also read that Rlyeh is getting one as well, not sure who from tho. So GPH is being very smart abou this. Seeding free units to key devs is brilliant.

I just didn't know some devs would get units prior to launch, as ED mentioned.

Don't know about Reesy etc., but he should certainly be a prime candidate for a freebie unit. Skeezix, YoyoFr etc. as well if they're interested (we know Skeezix is, don't know about YoyoFr, he can be kinda quiet and then one day - boom! New emu for new system i.e. PSP).

Reesy got his freebie BLU from Craig, hence the "GBAX" banners on the DRMD emu. I would imagine the same for the GPx2. Yoyo would be a great dev but honestly after experiencing the power of the PSP I have doubts that he would be too interested in the weaker GPx2 but you never know.

iirc Rlyeh was working on a SNES emu for GP32 at one point but dropped it as it was proving too hard/slow. So just maybe he'll tackle SNES on GPx2.

mmm
GPH will profit
craigix will profit
what about the developers? i hope that they get a little bit more than a free handheld (especially Mike dawson lol i like c64 :) )

suppose if most the emulators are open source then they cannot profit from them, apart from donations?

Open-source doesn't mean that you can't sell it, but it is a slippery slope.

If the gpx2 devs would get money from GPH, so what about the PC dev their work was based on, etc... it all goes on and on.

Generally speaking it looks a bit unfair for the devs, but if they don't like the deal they can just decide to sell the emulator. Which will be probably a worse deal, since noone buys emulators pretty much, and donations for a well running system with many users will probably be more money than you could get from sold software for a thus not so good selling system.

And if GPH would pay devs to develop emulators, the Gpx2 would become more expensive, thus loosing one of its key selling points.
Donations diretly to the developers on the other hand, benefit the indivitual developer probably more, and also results in more units sold (thus more donations).

In other words, donate to Reesy :p (like I did already ;) )

(Yay, to the idea of donationware)

no but it was said by ED that its on the internal emu list, which is not public

Clicks for devs!
I'd be willing to hit a few more google ads if it meant thanking these guys for their work. Also A free 200 dollar system isnt such a bad pay off for developing/porting some of their work, it's the same thing people get for wining the dev-contests anyway.

Hello! :)

I am in Seoul, in an amazing hotel on the 23rd floor with a view of the city which is stunning.

Anyway, met with Gamepark, off to see the GPx2 today :)

Weather is raining but warm, this is a really cool town, i'm looking forward to exploring it.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T MAKE IT QUICKTIME
Quite honestly I see your post as a hilarious joke, but just in case it isn't, I had to put up that warning. Quicktime is disgusting, I don't know why anyone would ever have any interest in it ever.

DivX or XviD are really the only acceptable formats.

Agree about RealPlayer and Quicktime.

Unfortunately, my computer is such crap that DivX even performs poorly. The only real option for me, in any type of video playback is MPEG1. Although I do get good DivX playback thru a DOS player w/o sound so I guess it's alright if there's nothing in the video that I'll need to hear....

Hello again :)

I'm posting this from Gameparks offices :)

I've seen the gpx2, i've seen the movie playback (which can be the full res on tv out), i've got all the answers to questions dev wise, i've taken loads of photos and video.

You are going to like it.

Ok movies are OK but what about the GAME and EMU possibilities? Were you able to convince them to add more buttons for vertical MAME games?

Can the other ARM be used for emus? How is the screen is it as bright/clear as the BLU+ or is it better or worse?
