Nintendo 3DS

The full list of Ambassador Program GBA games is in. The message containing the list is arriving by SpotPass today, but I'm quoting from here, because I haven't had the notification arrive on my own 3DS just yet.

The ten games we're getting are;

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity

Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island

The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

Mario vs. Donkey Kong

Metroid Fusion

Wario Land 4

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames

Apart from one game that I personally feel is an iffy choice (Mario Kart Super Circuit, specifically, as I never liked it at the time and feel that it's definitely been outclassed and overshadowed by Mario Kart 7 now), it's a pretty sterling list!

I'm more than happy with it, as not only are there a couple of games that I had but never gave enough of a chance to back in the day (Metroid Fusion, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror), but there are also some that I never picked up at the time (Wario Land 4, Mario vs. Donkey Kong), and several that I wouldn't have even given a look to otherwise (such as The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones).

The games will be available on December 16th, which is less than two days away at the time of writing. :D

WarioLand 4? I wasn't aware there was a 3.

And with Metroid Fusion my collection will be complete. Nice. :)

@Prometheus: What is the Ambassador program? Can those games be bought seperately? where are they stored on the 3DS, does it have internal memory?

I will be nice to legitimatly play GBA games on it (as opposed to flash cart - but out of interest will an R4 work with it...doubtfull)

...and I loved MK Super Circuit! I was dissapointed with the N64 kart and welcomed a return to teh physics of the SNES. But that's probably just me :)

EDIT: Just rad about the Ambassador program - obviously I won't be elligable :-( BOOO!!

I think it was believed at some point that these games would be exclusives to ambassador members, but I can't see nintendo never releasing these to the masses at some point far a price. Nintendo is the worst company in the world for announcing news, and staying up to date. So if these games ever do become availible to the public, I'm sure you will hear about it the week it happens.

Hell, they just finally announced these games a few days before they go live, WTF!?

The good news is, most of these games run perfectly on the Pandora, so don't shed any tears when it comes to Nintendo. Just make sure you own the proper game first. :p

Chris

Really though a bunch of gba games. They could have given a free 3ds game. That would be fairer. Or at least some n 64 games. But no nintendo want to re-release n64 games full price on 3ds. Zelda minish cap! Zelda cynical cap.End of rant.

They did the same as with the NES games. :p They announced five beforehand, and five just before the release. (I think the original announcement is covered somewhere in the depths of this thread. )

Still, not many hours left, now! :D

Wait, actually, has anyone checked to see if they're live in PAL regions already?

I really can't believe I just read that. ;) Prices do drop, and usually no company ever does ANYTHING. I remember with some amusement the sorts of rants that used to happen around early April, just after people had purchased a new Macintosh, without knowing that Apple's annual "speed bump" for their computers was that time of year, which always caused a drop of the price of the previous models. They never got anything, and gracious, they just had to accept that prices drop and let it go. :p

Goodness me, this compensation for a price-drop is better than what Sony did in return for compromising people's personal info and credit card details, and people still complain!

Yep, I'm downloading them now

Well, we still don't have an official confiramtion in the US yet, so I don't know if we will get hem tomorow or not. This is the kinda of crap I was talking about. I also heard Australia went live a day early. Not a big deal really, as I play these games on my Pandora anyways. I think minish cap will be the only one I bother with, as our emu has a bug.

Show some Wayforward support, and pick it up!

^ It's looking fantastic! It's an insta-buy for me because of how Mega Man-like it blatantly is, and because WayForward's other Mighty-series games are awesome fun (if you don't have Mighty Flip Champs and Mighty Milky Way already, you owe it to yourself to grab those, too).

I thought that North America wasn't getting it until January or February, though? I know Europe's definitely getting it on the 22nd. Did something change overnight? EDIT: I just saw the news! Good to hear that there won't be any delays for anyone. :D

Also: I've just spent the last hour or so having a quick blast with most of the 10 GBA games. Excellent stuff (Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is *much* better than I remembered it being, and I'm loving Metroid Fusion, too - these are the two I've spent the most time on so far), though the full-screen filter is pretty horrible, as usual. The standard trick of holding Select for native resolution works here, as always, though there's no border for these games like there is with purchased Virtual Console releases.

EDIT 2: New trailers for Dillon's Rolling Western and Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword here! I'm really looking forward to these two. :D

Would love to look at whatever code they're using for GBA emulation. I'm all but certain that 3DS has full DS video hardware, meaning it'd probably be able to use it directly for GBA support, but it's still interesting to see GBA support on such meager hardware.

It takes a while to start the GBA games, compared to the NES ones and other Virtual Console releases on the system - about as long as it takes to switch to DS mode, in fact - if that's of any interest. Also it won't go into sleep mode (and they let you know that) if you close it, the same as running GBA games on a DS. My impression is that they're using it directly, rather than emulating. :p

I'm still interested. How should we go about setting something up? I havn't experimented much with my copy as far as online goes, but there seem to be some ways of setting up community parties and such.

I'm itching to show my MK skills(or lack there of). LOL

Chris

ok, well here, ive gone through the trouble of creating a pandora community.

the code is: 16-3681-2106-6398

to join, in mk7 home menu, click on online multiplayer, select communities, and search by code

we would still have to organize a time though to serve, hopefully all time zones

Alrighty, I added in the code.

WOW, this game looks like Nintendo put some thought into online funtionallity. I really wish they would put this much effort into all their games.

The WiiU needs to have a dedicated online community, and they need to make sure every game(1st party/3rd party games)has some for of online usage). Leader boards for basic games at least, and multiplayer online for any game that allows for more than one player. Nintendo needs to stop being lazy, and get off their high horse with this "lets all get together in the same room crap"! It is really getting old.

I grew up playing with friends in the same room, and many of those friends still play games on a regular basis. Sadly, many are in differant cities, and others are on the oppisite side of town. We can all play with each other anytime we want with almost any game on PC, 360, and PS3.

Nintendo just hates to not be the original idea creator, and often times just flat out refuse to go with the flow. This is how modern games are now played and experianced. If they want to compete in the next generation, they should follow what Microsoft has done, try to improve on the formula, and make it their own. But this idea they have that it is just not required is just silly.

I can't wait for Vita, because I know every game that hase multiplayer will function online and have some form of leader boards. They will also have trophy/acheivments support. I'm not really that into the trophy thing, but several of my friends are. Nintendo just can't stand that this is something people want(and that some other company created it), and refuse to go along with the idea. I have heard all their reasons for not doing it, but it adds very little to production cost(if anything), and they just flat out refuse to give gamers what they want.

Sorry for my long winded rant, but when I look at MK7, I can see so much potential, and then I put in every other 3DS game I own, and except for Street Fighter(which is awsome by the way), they all suck when it comes to online. Gamers and programmers demanded CD as a format years ago, and they didn't heed the warning and it cost them business. Now consumers demand basic functions, that have been around for years, and we really don't care who thought of the idea, but that they just work and need to be included with every new handheld or console from here on out(dual analog sticks, online functions for every game, Touch screen on handhelds, trophys/acheivements, ect.).

I love Nintendo to death, as there games are some of historys best, but boy can they be clueless somtimes!

Chris

@DaMummy

Thanks for setting up the Open Pandora Community on MK7. I'm looking forward to some friendly & chaotic races. :p

@ DaMummy, thanks for setting up the group, just joined.

Still not sure how the community aspect works with MK7, looking forward to finding out.
