Nice Rockman collection

Now i wonder ... could that be the bedroom of Prometheus? Thats a serious collection there

It's not hers, because the Prom has Mega Man bed sheets, as well as Mega Man rugs in her bedroom. I've been there, so I would know.

FYI fans, there's a Megaman feature in the latest Retro Gamer magazine.

That's a VERY impressive feat - that's almost every Japanese retail release right there!

There are some very significant games missing, though - specifically, Rockman ZX Advent (which is quite a significant title, because it was the last new "true", non-RPG Rockman title to ever be released at retail), the second and third Ryuusei no Rockman (MegaMan Star Force) games, which each came in multiple versions (the Star Force games pictured are just all three versions of the first game), and Ryuusei no Rockman: Operate Shooting Star (which was a "crossover remake" of the first MegaMan Battle Network game, which added an extra scenario which linked it to MegaMan Star Force), and Rockman Zero Collection. These are all notable for being the last time the Rockman/Mega Man series had a retail release (they're all DS games, by the way). ZX Advent is especially notable because it was a rare case of a sequel outselling the prior game (which of course rendered Capcom Japan's excuse about sales being the reason for no third game moot - we all know it's probably political and has something to do with the new president who took charge the year that these last retailed games were released...). That horrible PSP Powered Up flop isn't present either, but that's an earlier title, and nothing to do with the aforementioned politics.

Obviously, the download-only titles are by their very nature absent. :p

I must point out that Kotaku's title for the article is inaccurate - there are some points at which Mega Man deviates from Rockman - specifically, there are some games that bear the Western name which never got a Japanese release. Likewise, there are some bearing the Rockman name that never got a Western release (and some of them didn't get released in Japan, either!). :p

Also, I totally have to say this... Given that fact, there are actually more games missing from the photograph other than the significant ones already mentioned. Of note, I can see that the two MS-DOS Mega Man games ("Mega Man" and "Mega Man III" by Rozner Labs) are absent, as are titles such as Rockman Strategy (a Taiwanese RTS game based on the Classic series), Rockman DASH: To Save the World Adventure, Rockman Gold Empire (a Monopoly-type game), the Microsoft Windows version of Rockman X6 (Korea-only), the Microsoft Windows version of Rockman X7 (Korea-only), Rockman's IQ Challenge (an educational game), Rockman 1-2-3 (a compilation of the first three NES games, for Microsoft Windows, made for the Taiwanese market), the Japanese release of the MS-DOS version of Rockman X (this was released twice - once at the time of the Western release, in a big box complete with a PC joypad, and once a couple of years ago in a DVD-style case, presumably packaged with and run via DOSBox), and Rockman X Mathematics Tornado (another educational game). If I'm going to get really pedantic, the boards for the obscure arcade Battle Network medal-redemption game, as well as Rockman Panic Shot! (a mini-sized pinball table), are also missing. :p

So, yeah, an amazing collection, but it's not every game in the series ever released, by far. :p

It would take a very good, and very accurate, feature to make me buy that. And none of that irritating whinging that's so typical of the British gaming "press". I suspect anything less would make me incredibly annoyed.

Ah, nice.

I hope they at least managed to mention that 6 was never released in PAL regions, even though advertisements for the boss-design competition were run in Germany in advance of a PAL release that ultimately never occurred. :p
