New Xbox 360 Pics.

no trooper.. the only gaming difference is the hard drive and the backwards compatibility ;) ...

anyway.. those pics only have one controller port :(  ;)  <_<

The controllers are supposed to be wireless hence no ports (the one "port" is an IR window). I think that is retarded though, I will hate feeding batteries to my controller all of the time, stupid. What if the batteries go out and you don't have replacements at the time? The rumble feature eats batteries for breakfast. Wireless should be an option not forced on you, really dumb. Plus they could be glitchy, laggy if you get interferance etc.

I don't care for the concave squished look either. I kind of like the one that looks like a 3DO with a handle better.

I will still get it though, I will get the deluxe version if it is true that it is backwards compatible and has a HDD.

Agreed about the controllers, because constantly having to plug them into the wall eliminates the need for cords right? Oh wait...

That could be the ugliest thing that I have ever seen... seriously.

I was never especially fond of the original Xbox design (mainly due to its size and gaudiness), but it had some charm to it. This thing, however, is horrendous, and the other design (pictured here: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/09/11/sc...204.html?page=2) isn't any better.

The one design posted here is from OurColony, I think, so that's probably IS what the new Xbox will look like.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Xbox 360 is a terrible name. They should go with Xbox Next, I think.

Both are bad names...But when I think 360, I think 360 degrees which means a sphere. A spherical case maybe? Not really feasable but it would be cool.

I like the oil can design best but this one is pretty good, anything is better the the orginal xbox seen as its big, un-nessaraly clunky and loud as hell. I hope the put a quiter fan in...

if it's the silver 3DO design, then it'll look MUCH better than the old one!
that 3DO look beats the fake(?) render in the first page.

I think this may be due to a sales thing. If they called it XBOX2 then it would be one less than the PS3, and hence not as good, therefore they needed a number 3 or higher. Still a shit name though.

am I the only one that liked how the origanal xbox looked/looks?
I love the bright green on black and the general style. I think the reason most don't like it is because of the size.

same here..

if I wasn't too lazy i'd probably paint my gp32 black with green buttons and possibly green lcds in the start/select buttons.

EDIT:
I think the gray/silver and green looks horrible...

to each his own I guess

I agree that releasing two different versions or ANY different versions is a major mistake on MS's part... problem is a lot of people who buy the Xbox 360 are of course owners and fans of the original Xbox... and having to pay $100 extra to be able to play their old Xbox games is retarded... people will probably end up just keeping their old Xbox but that forces some resentment from the consumer as now they have that much less space in their entertainment centers.

About the wireless controllers and the rumble feature, my guess is due to the recent law suit where that one small company was sueing everyone over the rumble feature, I'm betting that the new Xbox wont have any rumble. If I remember right, the Logitech wireless Xbox controllers did not have rumble.

But if it does... man time to buy stock in Energizer.

:D

nah, i don't think they'll get rid of the rumble feature. and $400 isn't too bad if it's as powerful as the rumored specs(basically a high end pc for hundreds less). i know if i was younger there'd be now way i'd spend $400 for a console(or get that from my parents), and i think its the same for most people so the majority of xbox 2 buyers will probably be older peeps with $$. who knows, though.

Why would M$ do away with the rumble feature when they have just bought into the company doing all the sueing? I think they will just supply recharge docks that controllers can be set in when not in use.

If the specs are true (three core 3 GHz Power PCs, super high end GFX card) then they had to do it. I mean that spec absolutely CRUSHES the spec of the highest end Mac right now for $2000. At $400 they would would price themselves out of the market. When they release it they will still be competing against el cheapo Gamecubes and PS2s. At $300 it is a bit more reasonable. I agree that having 2 units will be confusing for some, but I think they didn't have much choice when releasing so much power so soon.
