Not sure if this is directed at me, but my comments weren't directed at you.

Mark - No only the part about the super size power up appearing a bit too often was directed at you, responding to your comment about it being used moderately... sorry upon reading my post again I can see why that might have been confusing :) the majority of what you quoted from my post was aimed at Apeiron's comment.

I still say Nintendo have retained mass market appeal, for those people that are not 'hardcore gamers' but rather, are very casual gamers. Lots of people who have bought DS's fit into that category. And lackluster as the DS's library has been thus far, there's no denying that the system itself has sold very well, much better thatn *I* expected that's for sure. Again... the biggest proof for me of Nintendo's continued popularity and appeal is the huge crowds and lines they draw at every years E3, compared to the other companies' areas.

And the DS's library isn't gonna stay so lackluster for very long :D

Ah good :) And yeah, the DS really is starting to have a great line-up; Japan has had one for a while now, but it's slowly starting to creep it's way into the west. And then when the second big wave of games come along it's going to be very fun indeed.

Same with online play or any form of multiplay besides having a controller and a friend, (the mario kart double dash "Lan" was a -joke-) Nintendo are horrified of the internet it seems, and I'm doubting their claims with DS or revoloution about online play focus, seriously.
They are not "horrified" of the internet, they could perfectly well have made the GC online, but they have said many times that they will move into online gaming once it is profitable. Xbox live was used by a minute proportion of Xbox owners, and probably lost Microsoft quite a bit of money. The fact that they are making the Revolution online even though it is still not profitable, and infact making it free, shows that they are listening to a very small niche of the gaming market.

I dont know about it being such a small niche... well okay I guess it depends where you live. Here in So Cal broadband is so common now, and when I worked at Gamestop it seemed that Xbox live was a big deciding factor in Xbox system sales at our store, as well I'd say more than 50% of the customers who bought Xbox systems bought an Xbox starter kit to go with it. A lot of people who have mentioned that they were not interested in the GC did site the lack of online play as one of the reasons they were put off. But I know broadband is not so common in a lot of areas.

Look Nintendo makes good games!

In the past they made GREAT games!

If they ONLY remade the games they had already done, but with nicer graphics, would that make people happy?

And as far as I'm concerned, there have been NO great games for the PSP, and only one good one (I've bought 5, and only Ridger Racer has diverted me!). There might be good games coming up, but they are mostly on the DS, imho.

Just wanna play good games, whatever the system....

*sigh* yeah so a couple people liked a few DS games more than a few PSP games so DS games must all be better or by extension the DS is the better system?

   Come on guys you all know better than this by now.

In the magazines I read (EGM, GI, and online Gamespot), quite a few PSP games got very good reviews, 8's or 9's out of 10, while most DS games are getting 7's or lower except for a few of the Nintendo 1st party games.

As many good games there were at E3 for the DS that I'm really looking forward to, I still have to say that right now, owning both systems and having owned or tried quite a few games for each, the PSP still has the games that *I* like more. And yes a few of the PSP games are what *I* would consider to be *GREAT* games. It's all in what kind of games YOU like, but please stop generalizing with these comments trying to say one has better games than the other because you or this magazine or that website or your friend or uncle's mother-in-law's grandmother says so... this is how good threads get turned into fanboy wars.

They are BOTH good, period.

yeah, sorry

that came across worng

i meant it to mean not all PSP games are good and not all DS games are bad

everytime someone mentions DS, they get slated, saying the games are bad. When actually there are just as bad games on the PSP

Also, Viewtiful Joe 2 is an excellent game, one of my favourites

the 32 Chambers is akin to the challenge modes on Smash Bros Melee (altho hard as nails)

Sylvia's move (replay) is crap tho, it really s glaringly obvious when to use it to solve a puzzle, and really offeres no advantages over Joe's Mach Speed

Yeah, Wind Waker is fantastic. I think the Gamecube will have the best pairing of Zelda games; they will provide a simular contrast to the light-heartedness of OOT and the deeply dark Majora's Mask but on a MUCH larger scale.

Tis not so fantastic when your memory card corrupts in the middle of the last dungeon, that sucked <_<

same happened to me because of Burnout 2

reminds me of when i had NO Mercy on the N64 and it didn't save at all

but burnout 2 corrupted ALL my saves

my Smash Bros characters, Zelda, Mario Sunshine, and all my Timesplitter 2 stuff

bit upsetting really, didnt play my gamecube for a few months

well it does seem that lately, PSP games that have been releasing have really not been too good at all, quite a few scoring only average or just above average scores, whereas DS games do seem to be steadily getting better.

PSP has been pretty dry all around lately, which is kinda worrying to me. Very few games have released in the months since the very impressive launch, and yeah many of those haven't been worth getting anyways. I haven't bought a game since... heh well not for a while.

Even at E3... there were all of what... maybe 10 new PSP games being shown, tops? They were all slated for around Xmas season release... but over in the DS area... they had at least twice as many games on display, though many of them didn't look worth bothering with, barely-above-gba-quality looking games like the new Ninja Turtles game and that craptastic Star Wars Ep. III game... but still, it seems this Xmas DS will have quite a few more releases than the PSP.
