New Led Light In Render On Openpandora.ca?

Just === Please, PLEASE P L E A S E!!! === have it done and sold to me, and in my hands... By September. I have a tech conference in Sept. And I would *LOVE* to take my Pandora to the meetings instead of my ever-more-bulky-seeming laptop!

Can someone make a complete list of all the applications for bluetooth? I'm curious to know.
If by applications you mean programs, then it's an innumerable number.
Otherwise, if you mean uses, there is a decent list, some of which has already been said.
  1. Connect wiimote+classic controller for nes/snes/other games
  2. Dualshock 3 for ps1 emulation
  3. Keyboard and mouse
  4. connect to 3g phone for mobile internet access (probably)
  5. bluetooth headset
  6. data transfer
  7. networking
the list goes on and on.

btw, tyvm to the team for this great addition.
one other thing.
ATOMICTHUMBS YOU WERE WRONG!
jk...but on bluwiki i remember it saying:
"What pandora won't have (so don't ask) ...bluetooth..."
:p
but that's a happy thing!

Those involved (was it MWeston or Squidge? I forget) said it wouldn't have Bluetooth. :p

hehehe my main usage would be something like this, only smaller :D

Well, fyi bluetooth and wifi both use the same frequency 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi stays on the same channel while Bluetooth jumps around constantly (to aviod collisions i believe) and uses a lower power output... the wavelengh is exactly 0.125 meters

tha means that a full wavelenth antenna would be .125 meters long so that is pretty small

this is great new i was hopeing the wifi chip would support both protocols

I'm interested in the 3g cellphone->pandora hookup idea... Anybody have any currently existing examples (i.e. linux laptop and any given cellphone)? Can only certain models of cellphones pipe internet around, or is it restricted by carrier? Is it cost effective (like, do they charge $1 for every 100k transferred or something ridiculous like that)?

I'd think that having full blown Pandora internet access wherever you're in 3g range would be awesome.

its my understanding that the AT$t 3G network is a bit further in the future than Pandora. The Edge 2.5G is causing enough of a ruckus on AT$ts network that 3G nationwide is not in the next year.

I have many Edge issues in Oakland on my days off work when I'm not on wifi with my iPhone. Another issue with 3G is battery life at least with the new iphone thats public knowledge prior to release in a few days.

If it weren't for iPhone hacking and reintro to emulators, I wouldn't be here.

?? iPhone 1.0 is Bluetooth mono from what I gather. iPhone 2.0 will have Bluetooth stereo capability. What's the story with Pandora's? Or is there no difference and Steve Jobs pulled a fast one on me.

Thats ok craig x and team are pulling a bigger heist on bill and Steve, props!

Peace

Man, this is awesome. Looking at this list is like being a kid in a sweet shop - I can't decide what I want most!
(There's some interesting screenshots of Navit too. I didn't realise it was working on so many devices.)

I have a TomTom 320 (and I quite like it) - I wonder if Pandora with BT GPS and something like Navit would be able to replace it? I like the idea of one device wearing many hats.

I can see no reason one way or another this will not work.

Our aim is to support the Bluez stack as far as the hardware supports it so if it can do it then the Pandora can (there are still some things to be worked out mind you, one of the reasons for keeping a little quiet about things).

As for mobile comms. I use 3G (well in my case HSDPA/HSUPA) from my phone to a number of devices (some windows, some WinCE, some Linux, some OMAP ;)) via BT, USB and other means.

3G and it's technology children in Europe/UK is quite cost effective these days (I am on a £25 for upto 10gig fair use a month and calls). I understand it is a lot more painful to use in the US at the moment.

Included bt would be nice - I might never have to unplug the hsdpa modem. Maybe we can get an additional LED for integrated hsdpa :-D I wouln´t mind paying 150 $ more.

I'm looking into getting a bluetooth keyboard. I want a smaller laptop style type. There aren't a lot of choices around. I've seen a few folding ones that look geared toward cell phones and pdas and there is the newer mac bluetooth keyboard. Does anyone know if the mac one works alright with Linux?

A little late to the party, but nonetheless just as excited. Nokia, watch out, 'cause here we COME! :D

Seriously - the lack of BT was the only regret I had about giving up my N800 in plans for a future Pandora. Now that's regret is gone. Now the Pandora beats the N800 in every way except price and the N810 in every way except GPS (which I'd never use anyway). Plus, for the extra $150 I'm saving by getting a Pandora instead of a N810 - I can find a BT GPS if I need one.

Painful doesn't even begin to describe the BS that our cellular companies are pulling :p
For instance, my phone fully supports 3g, but T-mo blocked my phone from using it via their own firmware. I had to break out and use a chinese firmware just to get the hardware access. And even then it can only connect to 2.5/Edge or w/e its called :p

Anyway, bluetooth is an awesome addition to the Pandora :D Is there a standard interface that has a ton of addons/harware that this thing doesn't support? :p

no one knows pain unless they've had a cell phone from Canada. These guys here have a license to print money. I used my phone as a modem for all of 20 seconds and racked up a bill for a few bucks... imagine what the damage would be for me to use this with the pandora!

Mobile phone companies take the biscuit these days, but hopefully devices like the Pandora and the Nokia tablets that enable VOIP from any wireless Internet access will get them scared enough to start playing a bit fairer :)

Great news about the Bluetooth guys. Definitely a useful addition B)

Will the official Open Pandora site include BT in the specs?

(I assume yes, but that you are waiting to finalize details before changing the specs on the site, so this is a feeler question above anything else).
