Neil Armstrong didnt say "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". Instead, he DID say the more grammatically correct "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind"

The other way around he's essentially saying "One small step for mankind, one giant leap for mankind". But now this new software they're using is saying that he in fact did say it correctly.

NASA you dumbasses ;)

They were transmitting over 20,000 miles through space using 1960s radio technology. I wouldn't be too surprised if we lost a little bit of audio data. Also, back then we had vacuum-tube based computers with CPU speeds that probably wouldn't even be accurately measureable in kilohertz. There was no ability to pick apart and dissect the actual voice patterns like today, you just had to go on sound...

I always thought that the 'a' was just muffled out by the transmission. Did nobody else think that?

he was suppose to say a man but whether he did or not, no one will ever know, despite what studies said
...did you read the article? New technology produced a clearer interpretation of what was said, and Armstrong did indeed say "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind".
