My Gp Clocks Perfectly To 166mhz

It's funny because before in the past, everybody said it was dangerous to overclock, and now it became safe...

Just because I said it is dangerous.

Drumaster, earlier on in the thread you said that 166mhz is fine but 200mhz is not. Why? They are both over your recommended clock of 66mhz so whats the difference? Is it because you can only do 166mhz, then it becomes ok, but any more and it "could really damage the unit".

To ste_167: Find the closest place that does the mod (I think there is one in the US, the UK and spain....I'm not sure). Find out the price and if it's not too much do it, you won't regret it.

No but I think 166 might be not very good but concerning 200 Mhz, there is no doubt about that for me, that's all. :)

I just said my opinion, so what?!

The ARM9 processor can handle 200mhz without doing damage to it. It just drains the batterylife. If that a problem get Lithium Ion batteries. They are rechargeable and last longer.

I would like to believe that, but where did you read this?!

In all cases, many developpers say that it is dangerous... most of them I think, so I believe this concerning 200 Mhz. :)

I have never heard of a developer say it was dangerouse to go to 200mhz. They said that they would like to make there games/emulators use the 200mhz but they probably wont because alot of people can't achieve 200mhz

We don't know the same developpers, that's all but respect my opinion. ;)

Yes, but your opinion is useless if you don't explain yourself. What you say might be all true, overclocking your gp32 will lead to global warming, gbax is in league with the devil. But unless you explain yourself fully your opinion will be dismissed and you might as well not have bothered. So far I don't argree with any of your opnions though (no surprise there :p ).

Why are you talkin' about GBAX here?! Are you crazy?!

I just said I think it's dangerous, so stop saying rubbish about me please. ;)

I don't agree with any of your opinion too (fortunately for me!).

Ok, so as far as I can see Drumaster is keeping away from flameing here, but some people are trying to start a flame war. Stop. Please.

I personaly think 200Mhz could do damage, but that wont stop me going that high :D

i do, but only as long as you dont "sell" your opinion as the ultimate truth.

and dont attack me like a child
You're wrong, I don't sell anything, how can you say that?!

Your first attack seemed to be more from a child than mine Vimacs and you know that. ;)

Thank you guy. ;)

I just think like you think about 200 Mhz but I don't have the right to... <_<

Yes you do have the right to. I agree with finty101 people are trying to start a flame war. It was that idiot who called drumaster a moron that started it.

Firstly Leave Off the Drummaster bashing - Neither of you are able to offer any proof as to whether overclocking can fry your gp32 until someone does it.

Overclocking CAN do serious damage - Just ask my PC

Yeah, I remember I few years ago when I turned on my pc without ANYTHING on my sleek, new, top of the line Athlon 1.4ghz cpu. Ahhh those were the days (roasted, crispy days), now when my fan stops turning on my Athlon64 the computer crashes . But I've lost track of the topic.....Ah yes I was going say that this is a relatively slow cpu we're talking about. 300mhz would be the absolute limit (an estimate) before we smell the heat and even then it would crash long before we reach that speed. I suppose leaving it crashed for a few days might cause some problems, but the battery would run out long before that. I'll keep overclocking as far as possible, not sure I care whether my gp32 blows up or not, in another six-eight months I'll be looking at the next generation of handhelds for my portable gaming fix. I've been overclocking my gp32 for a year and a half now at increasing speeds. An extra 20-30mhz isn't going to reduce its life by that much.

Did the same with my brand new 2gig ath - Forgot to reconnect the fan - Lasted about 30 secs! Managed to blagg ebuyer into replacing it tho!

I don't understand why Drumaster needs to be attacked here. The GP32's CPU may be able to overclock quite high but if you keep going higher eventually any CPU will be toasted.

We do not know how high the GP32's will go without problems and will never know untill we see the first damaged CPU's. Meanwhile Drumaster is quite right when he says it isn't safe to keep pushing it.
