Will they ever create a master emulator that plays them all... (like a 10 in 1)

It's impossible to play "them all". However 10 in one is already possible when you think of MAME or the multiple computer emulators. PicoDrive I think emulates at least 3 things. (and will at some point emulate 32X as well)

impossible, or highly improbable?

useless and too complicated...

use an emulator frontend rather than packing lots of emulator together with all the version problem you will get...

Good question...My best guess is "probably not". But I've been wrong before. At this point I'm thinking of the Pandora as something more like a revolutionary portable desktop computer (tat playz all me romz and pr0nz woohoo!!!). That being said, I think it should be smart enough to know which filetype opens with which program. So you might not need a 10 in 1 if you plan on having all of your backups in the same directory root. Of course besides iso and zip formats, I would assume that your files would open in the correct emulator.

Closest would be MESS.

Wow! Mess would save a lot of time and digging. Do you think it will work on the Pandora?

Is this guy bored? The idea of having multiple different systems emulated in one program is far from being practical. Is it so damn hard to just use a repo and d/l the emus you really need?

Oh noes, I have to do 10 clicks instead of one once i get my Pandora, this will steal away 20 seconds from my precious life, which has already been made sparse by waiting for the Pandora (see my other thread for how hard i am waiting compared to you guys waiting over a year).

Zib is another frontend in development. http://pandorapress....2009/01/07/266/ (old post)
One thing I wonder is, Zib, just like the two multiplayer interfaces, are things that haven't been updated in a long time... I wonder if any of them are still in development or abandoned.

I think they're waiting for the hardware-in-my-hands-induced-motivational-boost :)

It will likely be ported, but really, you sacrifice performance by doing it this way. As craigix says, a frontend is a much better solution if you really are so adverse to firing up a single emulator.

That's where stalking comes in handy. Aimless_E last posted in his Zib thread a month ago, and was last active on the boards only a few days ago.

That's just the basics. I've done some wonderful dev stalking in the last few months. :D

Throwing an online restraining order Gruso's way!!!

I'll be happy keeping all my emus in one folder and just selecting them from there.

Far from impossible. I was working on something like this for the PSP for a top secret project, all the emulators were hacked to accept a single file, then I had a menu that listed all the ROMs which would just fire up the proper executable and load it. It gets messy with saved states, was working on a fix when the project was scrapped.

I'm just trying to understand how this is different than having a front end, it doesn't sound like one emulator to me, just a single interface to multiple ones

It is basically just a front end. I never said it wasn't.

I don't think the OP intended he wanted an emulator that was possible to run completely different systems from the same code...
