From our point of view as end users, that's correct.
As far as I understand it, it's a standard USB HID (Human Interface Device, which includes keyboards, mice, gamepads etc) so it's supported in the Linux kernel. In other words, compatibility is built in to Pandora's operating system.
For the USB pad to then work in applications, the person doing the coding will need to include support in their app. For example, PokeParadox has recently added USB pad support to Pandora Panic. Hopefully we'll see this happen across the board, and all we'll need to worry about is plugging in and playing - just like on a PC.
This doesn't take into account wireless game pads with special USB receivers. If the receiver acts as a standard HID (as I believe you found that the Logitech does), then it should be fine. But if it's something that requires special drivers (like a wireless Xbox 360 pad) then suitable versions of those drivers would have to be installed. If they even exist.
[edit] Reading back through the thread, I see this has all been covered. Not sure why you're not trusting peoples' advice Raz. There's no need to worry. Get your Logitech pad. Anyway, hopefully this post helps it sink in a little more.
