This is what I came back from Japan to!!!??? Thank you, BAF, you've made coming home easier. :)

I'm definitely getting one of these next week! B)

Btw, I've just noticed that there are no apparent L and R shoulder buttons, it seems?...but meh, because it has a touch screen (virtual controls FTW!!!).

Anyway, this cool dude just uploaded a vid on The Tube.

JXD company is an ultimate joke. I would let it die.. they failed so many times [even more than GPH]

Oh lord I remember that horrible fish background off of one of the devices Ashens reviews, I believe it was a fake iPhone made by a completely different company

Please don't :) otherwise they will produce more useless garbage [psp-ripoffs with garbage psx emu / psone-shell-emu-ripoffs].

I agree with StreaK, I have a few products from JXD and they don't worth the buy.

Also you're right, there are no triggers, so how can we play SNES or PSX ?

Anybody have an idea on price? Also, what's the cpu clock speed?

How does it compare to the yinlips ydp-g18?

By the looks of it, it seems to be a crappy chinese table reformed to add gaming controls. That's all.

and they used in this androidzilla buttons from JXD PSP ripoff [yuck..]. They must have a lot of spare parts in stock, if they re-used old buttons from psp ripoff..

How is this a competitor to a real Linux handheld with hardware qwerty keyboard?

It depends on how you define competition. Anything that takes away sales from one product to another can be viewed as competition. For example if someone wanted to purchase Pandora for its emulation and then decided to buy these less expensive Android handheld emulation devices instead, that can be seen as a competitor. In the end it really doesn't matter what has more bells and whistles(i.e. keyboard). It's what sells.

For the price, from JXD :

Thanks for your reply.

But the international version is not ready. The unit price will be usd110.00, and shipp cost to France is usd35.00 by DHL. FYI.

Kind regards,

I really hope this whole android gaming handheld movement picks up, not having to rely on these cheap asian hardware manufacturers, or the community to make good software geared toward emulation... it's been my #1 complaint about most of these gaming handhelds, dodgy or non-existent platform emulation. Some platforms see some love in time if you're patient, but with android the work mostly done for you.

The emulators for the most part are basically 100% (N64/PS1 probably at about 80-90%) and whenever someone releases a device with android built in, the emulators will "just work" if they can just nail down a good hardware setup with solid comfortable controls and battery... slap android on it and their work is done.

like this for example

http://www.dealextre...t-tf-4gb-108453

if this wasn't some cheap peice of shit with software that *looked* like android and actually was a solid port of android.... this thing would be F*ing awesome!

-dual analog

-dpad that doesn't suck

-ergonomic abxy

-shoulder buttons

-non-proprietary charger

-hdmi & rca video out

-user replaceable standard battery (1500mah should last 4-5 hours)

-stereo audio ports

-external microSD port

-camera

-accelerometer

-haptic feedback

-touchscreen

AND THEN the WTFUUUUUUUUUU!!!!! this part is going to make it suck so hard ... the ripoff bullshit OS... I mean seriously... they're ripping off an OPEN SOURCE OS!!!! just compile and boot! I can understand if the hardware isn't up to snuff to run it.. but thats when you invest a *little* bit in the SoC and get something decent, bump the price up 20-30 bucks a pop and you'd sell thousands... if not hundreds of thousands more than what you would sell in it's current state.

one day it will happen though... they are getting so close it hurts to watch
