Joystick 45 Degree Rotation ?

sticky floor tiles would work well ;))
(ever the jester!)
Or double sided sellotape pads.

It seems fairly clear that GPH must read these boards, and certainly various influencial people do.

There have been many posts about the supplied GP2x joystick failing to work/register directions/centre push button failing after a fair degree of usage; so even if the stock stick was made to be more accurate to use, the rest of the problems will remain, as it appears that the stock joystick is not heavy duty enough.

Using the obvious power of these boards, how about people researching and posting links to alternative 8 way joysticks which would fit inside the GP2x and be compatable with it? With any luck, GPH might implement one of these in a future model (if they don't want to implement a proper D-pad into the GP2x which their customers prefer - and is far more robust than a mini-joystick btw), if they are pointed in the right direction? ;)

so could there ever be a fix for this via software/firmware?

Software fix for GP2x's joystick?

That was dicussed long time ago with two developments:
- DaveC's biasing schemes
- my software routines for filtering stick's events in time domain ("timegate")

Actually some apps have implemented DaveC's schemes.

Do you mean the Joytest app?

The joytest is showing it but some other actual emus have it supported. The Outcast for an example.
