Sarcasm aside, it is really all about what you care to spend money on, i.e. what is important to you. I lead a rather sober life, essentially still on student-level spending, only now with a mortgage. I do not have anyone that is financially dependent on me and I choose to forego most luxury, challenging myself to cut cost where I can. Managing spending is just as important as increasing your income.
My point is, the target audience has more disposable income and is not even close to spending 1/12th of their life to buy it.
If this phone is a massive cost to you, then do not get it. There are cars out there that cost the same as a house, you don't drive those either, do you? Does that imply that they should not exist? No, of course not.
Anyway, in my opinion, there are other phones out there which offer way more bang for your buck. And apologies for being a bit of an ass, no offense was intended.
