As you mention, the UG007 has Bluetooth as does the Quad core HI-802 which also has Linux support. Problem with the RK3066 PC sticks , is that they don't have Linux yet. So the HI-802 is a good choice in that regards.

Perhaps Selma, you can take that requirement of Linux and discuss it with your colleagues at geek buying. Along with the following requirements

If one came out with a quad core exynos 4412 or snapdragon s4 or at least (or most likely) a quad core rockchip soc like the soon to be released if not already released RK32xx - I'd buy one.

But it must have the following also: Male HDMI plug, Bluetooth, good wifi, good ventilation and cooling, at least 1gb memory and 8gb storage, micro SD, USB 2.0 , Jelly Bean and an install of Linux that can be put on it. A forum community also needs to at least be started for the device also - like exists for the mk802.

Anyone, and vcoleiro as you seem to have been looking into these a bit lately...

What you think of the mentioned Imito MX1 [linked above]

against the MINIX NEOP G4, here: http://www.geekbuyin...gn=blackfriday2

This MINIX one is a few quid more expensive, and has a nice remote to control the media side of things.

Says it is with 4.0 but upgradable to 4.1

Both seem to have the 1GB RAM and 8GB storage on board.

Both have the A9 Dual Core Cortex chip.

Both Quad Core GPU.

...Outside of the sale though the MINIX is nearly double the cost of the Imito, making me think it might be considerably better, though cannot see much spec difference..

Thoughts?

^ Personally Id go for the Imito MX1 for several reasons

1) It has Bluetooth

2) It has a Hdmi male plug so it can be plugged straight into a device without needing to carry around a cable

3) It has a more durable aluminium case.

4) It's on Jellybean to start with, no need to upgrade

You can get it here now for $58 -> http://www.in4dealz....--Black-600468/

There is also the mx2 which has a plastic case for $5 less.

Just pair it with a $20 air mouse + keyboard and you are set.

As for the Minix you mentioned, it looks like another clone of the MK808 which there are many off, nothing wrong with it, other than the things its missing I mentioned above. In fact there are now about 20 different PC Sticks all based on the RK3066 SOC (all copied amoungst the different chinese manfacturers)

In the end , any PC stick with a RK3066 is going to be ok , as this is where I have seen all the development being centered on due to the number of these devices that are now out. There is even Ubuntu 12.1 being ported to this SOC, so as long as you stick with a RK3066 based stick , you should be ok.

There is a quad core freescale PC stick coming out, but as yet there is no launch date. It's called the HI-802

Being Freescale, it should have Linux support almost off the bat.

Cheers, options 1 & 2 are good points ... I'm sold :)

this should be with me any day now, I was watching some new vids on YT of it and it does seem to perform very well.

also, a nice little app if you order from geekbuying, although I did order the airmouse anyway, I will still d/l this app, it lets you control the iMito via your phone

cheers, I've bookmarked the minipcforum, place to visit if I encounter any issues with mine

Does anyone have a copy of that firmware update? The dropbox link from the geekbuying.com guy who originally posted it is now a dead download link... I just got mine in the mail today and was hoping to get it all updated with the latest.

EDIT:

Used my google-fu and found it here: http://ultramegabit.com/file/details/9h-W2--feHA

I got mine a few days ago, but been too busy to even get on this yet.

Did you d/l the app too, if you have an Android phone, looks like it is worth having. Emailing geekbuying with your order number will get you that.

I sent them an email last night asking for the Android app too... I had previously emailed them re: my order status and they were super responsive/nice so I expect to hear something soon.

yeah I found them responsive and nice too...

they even email me with the greeting:

"hello dear"

...which made my day

:)

That looks niiiiiiice, looks like it manages all that fancy motion well too

Looks like a beta ROM -- I think I'll hold out a few more weeks until the final stable/release version.

Here's an idea for those with a PC Stick.  As torpor has pointed out elsewhere, add a Motorola Lapdock for $40 and you have yourself a Android and Linux Laptop for $80 - $140 all up depending on whether you use a mk802, RK3066 based stick or a GK802.

Beauty is , you can replace the PC Stick when they get better .

Vid showing Ubuntu running on a mk802

(Get yourself a 90 degree angled plug so it sits parallel and doesn't stick out like below)

Linux should be available for the GK802.

Linux is also being ported for RK3066 devices (like the imito), see progress of this here:

Sounds a good idea, I don't know of these Motorola Lapdock's though... I just checked on Amazon [uK] but the ones I see are a lot more expensive.
