I have one little hope for what might change. The Frankencamera project uses an OMAP3, as does the Pandora, and in fact the N900 is one of the active platforms. Meanwhile the 3DS demonstrates the first step towards stereo photography in a consumer device.
Combining the two would be really neat, and even interesting for robotics. This is of course entirely off topic to the first goal of the Pandora, gaming, but it's interesting to me. Perhaps a camera attachment could be made?
Unfortunately, with my lack of income, I can't afford both the N900 and Pandora now (so stick with my Pandora order), and probably won't afford a new camera even by the time of Pandora 2.. so it's a bit of a moot point. But one can dream.
I was worried about this too. I plan to look at the boards for early announcements of a really complex software project and convince myself this it is a must-have.
