What do you want?
I do believe, that control with Dave's cap is the best one can attain with the joystick internals being fubar. Rather nice.
I hate to sound like a complete moron but, where can I purchase the joystick mod?
I received mine 6 days after I ordered/payed for it (Netherlands)
Edit: typo
i got the cap today, i like it better than the stock one, but its too wide in diameter for my thumb, sometimes my thumb will slip around inside the cap, from the pictures, it also looked like a sort of rubber, but its actually quite nice quality plastic (but being plastic and not rubber, still a bit slippery)
its also a bit too high ...any way i can make this smaller by making the hole deeper?
Just got my Cap today and WoW.... i performed my first dragon punch in Streetfighter II on mame. Joy!!! Most helpful is the fact that you use as a Dpad would be used, pressing up for up instead of up from the bottom like on the original cap. Makes me appreciate my GP2X alot more. Thanks DaveC for a great fix to a huge problem with this great handheld.
I would Highly recomend this to anyone who has an extra 10 bucks well worth the price.

what do you mean you use it like a dpad? you use it like a normal joystick, you are just used to having to press a joystick from the bottom because of the stock stick being crap
DaveC, get a patent, before somebody copies you and sells it for less!
P.S. That is the first time(in my memory)I gave DaveC (good)advice........
Well thanks guys.
Unfortunatly I don't think you can patent a stick cap. Even if you could the cost of that would be more than I would ever make. I am not getting rich on it, I have to take out postage, plus paypal whacks me some too. Some on here have whined about the price but honestly after postage and paypal fees if I sold it for less it really wouldn't be worth the time to make. I have to make each one on a lathe, it is not like I have a mold or CNC to pump them out cheaply. Eventually maybe GPH will even come with a molded cap for dirt however I don't know how good it will be. Theirs will be certainly made from cheap styrene or ABS. My caps are nylatron GS though which is a kind of metal impregnated (molybdenum) nylon and is much tougher (and expensive material) than anything GPH will come out with. Look at them in a bright light or sun, you will see a kind of steely sheen to them.
From a website:
"NYLON
Nylon is the generic name for a family of long-chain polymeric amides. General characteristics of the nylons include toughness, strength, abrasion and fatigue resistance, low coefficient of friction, resiliency and heat resistance. Many of these properties can be enhanced by the addition of fillers such as molybdenum disulphide (Nylatron-GS). Nylons are resistant to hydrocarbons, alkalies, keytones and esters"
Why no reverse lathe a piece of metal that you could pore pasltic into and let it setup and then pop them?
I'm sure there is some way you could figure a way to produce them faster then the way you are doing now. There are a lot of cheap materials out there to produce molds from now. I found one that was a clay material that can take in molten metal and still with stand the temps.
