Huh? (ZX Speccy Vega crowdfunding)


The decision to go with a D-Pad for a machine that was originally keyboard only (and for which many, many games were created with this in mind) has caused head scratching elsewhere -

I thought it had the option for an external keyboard, apparently not - so no Adventure games (without the use of an onscreen keyboard), no Corridors of Genon, no Elite - and so on. Even Ant Attack could be awkward. Composite only too.

So the hardware might be super-accurate, but if so much of the software is almost unuseable, to what advantage? Maybe you could take one apart and put it's guts into an actual Spectrum case if there's a way to attach a keyboard controller, although you could pick up a dead Speccy and a fresh keyboard membrane (or two, you may need them...) and a cheap Raspberry Pi (HDMI out ahoy!), and attempt something like this:
