Hi,

I am completely new to the GP2X and having bought one from e-bay I would like find out if I have a MK1 or MK2. If there any way I can determin this?

Thanks, and I bet this is a really stupid question too!

Well you can recognise a MK1 by the joystick. If it looks like this one
gp2x_02.jpg

It's a MK1 otherwise it's propably MK2

MK2s have Korean writing on the left half of the back label.

Not all MK1s have first edition written on it, the main things to distinguish MK1s are:
1) Game Pad (Picutred above).
2) No Korean writings on the left half of the back label.
3) Can't power low-power USB devices such as a thumb disk when you have a USB host through a cable or BOB, MK1s provide less than 5 volts.

From the dev BoB manual:

and if it's running the game in that photo then it has an extra slot on top for reading vaporware...
Huh? Which game?

well it doesn't matter, since it doesn't exist, right? :D

it's an int13 game called goldmine...they took the gp2x off their list of supported systems without much fuss...maybe a week ago? don't know exactly, just noticed it now. anyway this was in contrast to the large fuss they made about how they'd be devving for it.

just wondering, my gp has all the signs of a mkII (according to wikipedia) but the label on the back is all in english, which do i have?
