hi all, i run a indie studio which is currently working on a port of the game maker game Gray and Green, i will be soon uploading the subdomain of the game from my site and will display screenshots of the project currently underway.

It took me a fair amount of time to convince the original author to allow me to port this, i have so far ported most of the sprites and audio and am commencing on level building and have converted all music from midi to mod format. everything is running okay on the hardware and is using pockethal for all graphical on screen stuff.

take some time and play the windows version and let me know what you like and dont like about it so i can compile a list of things that i can improve for the gp2x release.

more information on the game and background please see this link below

many thanks and will continue to update you.

youtube video of gp2x version, still has many bugs and graphical errors but just shows a tech preview of it running on hardware. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9buEcgQxqY

Very Good news..will be fun to play Game Maker Games on GP2X or Pandora... B)

thank you for your reply.

just to stop any confusion in future posts, this is NOT a port of GameMaker or its engine but just a select few games i am targeting which have excellent gameplay and art work, not all games that i select get approved by the original authors but GraniteGear the author of the Gray and Green games took many emails and messages before finally getting him to agree, he did not know what the Gp2x was, either they dont have a import of the machine to norway or he just was not interested in looking into alternative gaming devices.

The engine has to be started from scratch and i should then be able to adapt it to play other gameplay styles such as platform shooters and so on so forth.

GraniteGear is currently going to be working on a second game in the Gray and Green series which he has told me it will be a better game altogether and i should hopefully be able to persuade him to allow me to port this also.

So just to conclude this is NOT a source port of GameMaker or its games but just a port using a proprietary engine but does include parts of PocketHAL for displaying art and game visuals to display.

Nice unique graphic style. I like it. :) Thanks for the conversion...

Ok thank you for clarifying me that is not the Game Maker port ...it would be very very nice to see it on GP2X ...but is closed source!!

Anyway Thank you for your hard work on this game port. I can't wait to try it on.. :gp2x

i hope it ends up working out okay for this platform, also will port it over to windows mobile if it gets enough following over on this forum and other gp2x sites.

but will look forward to working with GraniteGear and gp2x communities in the future also.

trying to keep this as faithful as his original and to minimize changes unless required by technical difficulties i may meet on the gp2x hardware.

only reason it is closed source is due to game data belonging to a GraniteGear and to keep to his wishes that his art and data is kept secure.

In future projects will release along with source as long as the project is developed entirely by myself and not an outsourced use of art and audio.

thanks for current posts will have website and a blog running at http://graygreengame.gamestrek.co.uk by wednesday so peeps can keep a closer eye on progressand also update this topic.

edit sorry you meant GameMaker being closed source, yoyo games currently have a mac version in development and a engine to run gamemaker games from PSP in near future there is a video postedon their blogat yoyogames.com
