OK, my Graphics teacher decided to not let me design and create a architectural model of an arcade, because a lot of people try doing architectural models, and get bad marks

So I have had to design something that can be marketable (phones, Tvs, sofas) or something that will promote said items (point of sale stands)

So i hhave decided to design an MP3 player, I will design it and eventually make a prototype, but before I start I need some feedback

I am not sure why people buy different MP3 players, so I thoguht a Poll would be useful

I would like to know what is the main selling point of an MP3 player for YOU (what makes u buy MP3 player X over MP3 player Y?)

Thanks in advance for ure help

(There are no options for good sound or compatabilit because this is just a design not a working model, so these dont matter)

mte you might wanna choose summit else cos most people on this forum are gonna choose an mp3 player for it's memory space, sound quality etc...

thats why they arent on the poll

I am trying to design a player that is good for enthusiasts as well as the general shopper, so I also need to do a Poll @ college

BTW, second year rules!!!!! <_<

I took graphics in School. I got an F, which I can't really complain about.

In the exam it asked me to draw a mobile phone in 3D. I drew a camera as I didn't read it properly.

It also wanted me to arrange 5 hours into sections of making the item. Mine went something like...

Hour 1: Find Materials.
Hour 2: Clean Materials with special germ absorbing sponge.
Hour 3: Arrange Materials into nice piles.
Hour 4: Have a cup of tea, and a biscuit of your choice.
Hour 5: Make Item.

And finally my coursework involved me making a stand to advertise a film. On the way down to give them in I grabbed a piece of A4 paper out of the printer, folded it a few times and wrote the word "Penguin" on it.

Brilliant... I can't say I'm surprised you failed, but at least you were damn funny in doing it lol. ROFLMAOing brilliant :)

Anyways... yeah, I tend to go for the stats of the player - but after that, aesthetics mostly, with a couple of limits on size/weight etc that I just don't think about coz they go without saying. So I wouldnt buy anything larger than a portable CD player. And I wouldn't by anything heavier than a certain ammount simply because it'd make a hole in my pocket in a very litteral sense. But after it shrinks a fair degree those two go on the back burner, and its all about functionality and aesthetics.

well, if u guys dont mind, once ive drawn up some designs (i'm shite at drawing) ill post em and see what u think

I dont wanna end up commiting myself to something thats bolloks

finished my first idea, it is nothin like how it looks here, coz i spent 2 hours on the 3D software @ college, then the damned PC broke

n e way, the top greenish circle is the bit i hve concentrated on, the larger party of the player is just bollox coz i got bored and i dont cant be arsed to carry on on ProDesktop atm

Im doing graphics at the moment at skool for my GCSE im not sure what to do tho i was thinking of doing mini arcade like magoo but im not sure, apparently the easiest thing is to do a point of sale stand but that idea bores me a bit, so i might try the arcade if im feeling brave ive got a year so who knows.

p.s i like the shape of the mp3 magoo looks quite good, nice ergonomics ;)

I wish I could do graphics at GCSE, but my school is shit, so basically all I can do is science, languages and maths. I like the design, but if your fingers are going to fit in those holes, it is gonna be a bit big. I chose size in the poll.

my other idea is one with two sections laid on top of each other

on the top there would be all the button

and then it spins open so its double the size, and the screen is on the other layer

so it will protect the screen and also half the size of the MP3 player

i mite make that now, once I've finishe checking the forums

i decided to texturize this 'un

the part with the screen, spins round and fits under the other one
