Well this the first (beta) version of the Bible Reader I developped for the GP32.
You can download it from here: GPBible .01

Within the RAR-Archive you will find three bible texts (English and German) where you can choose one to use, the complete source of the program and some scripts to produce own bible texts.

Maybe my implementation of combo boxes might be interesting for other developpers (as it is GPL'd you can recycle them).

Thx,
David

hmmmmmmmm, make my own bible text, hmmmmmmmm could have lots of fun with that

lol, thought of converting bible texts to the internal time saving format. sorry for wrong english :D

Hmm, and I thought the world of Videogames was the only place religion couldn't get to me. Anyway nastiness aside, I think this actually quite a good idea for those interested, and I'm surprised this hadn't been created sooner.

One other thing....can this be used to read other stuff?

Well yes it can. But I suppose that this beta version isn't really good for reading things like ebooks. On the other hand developpers might be interested in the way I am reducing loading time for the bible text and maybe someone wants to recylce my combo-class.

I got an error trying to compile your source code, is there a special flag that I need to include in gp32.mk ?

Please write me an email if you have problems with compiling.
It's written in C++ so you have to do some special things.
Better use the precompiled .fxe ;)

btw, it would be nice if someone could add my utility to the download section on gp32x.de

thx,
david

Search function might be impossible because the speed of the SMC is too slow. What it does now is that:
It loads a definition file which is around 350kb big. This file stores start position and length of each bible verse. So you have instant access without loading the bible itself into memory (which wouldn't be impossible because of its size). But I plan to implement links and bookmarks.
Tip: For continous reading use R and L keys.
