Gp2x = Extreme Durability

Build quality seems good on mine, now i just need a guide on "how to not brick a gp2x" hehe, i seem pretty good at it.

Ouch, poor gp2x ;_;

Edit: and a "how to spell" guide would be nice.

I wish mine had been as durable <_<

It was placed inside my suitcase in luggage bay when I went to Frankfurt last month. When I arrived at the hotel to unpack, I found the poor GP2X rather smashed up. Something must have happend in the luggage bay.

Anyhow here is the result... I'm currently trying to get an insurance claim.

(As you can see the screen protector was broken through and the actual lcd has 2 large cracks, the joystick was warped (The DaveC cap doesn't fit anymore) and the battery cover doesn't stay on. Also the right shoulder button came out because the casing was cracked.)

I'm GP2X'less right now :(

:eek:

Reminds me of my poor TracFone when I dropped it and it hit a wooden end table at just the wrong angle... Luckily, it was only a $20 phone, though, you've got quite a bit more cost to deal with!

Holy Moses, my gp2x repaired itself over night...my joystick has spring in its step again! Thank the magical gp2x fairys

I only dropped one of my handhelds once; my GP32 was in its case, and it slipped out of my hands while getting out of the car. I was horrified, even though it was in the case ... I'm very protective ;)

... and yes, Loubear's kitty is off the scale when it comes to cuteness. :)

I have probably dropped my gp2x a few times, I can't remember specific instances.
But I gave it to my brother for fie minutes, and there is now a scratch on the screen :(

It's not actually that bad, I can't see it when playing, and it's barely visible even when my gp2x is off.
Nevertheless... :(

I've dropped my 2x two times :(

The first time was from about 3-4 ft and onto carpet. I freaked out when it wouldn't turn on, and shook it a little and got a horrifying rattling noise! :eek: but I remembered reading about others who had dropped theirs and just needed to fix the battery connectors. So, i fixed the connectors, and all is well. Turns out the horrifying rattling noise was the batteries moving around due to the loose connection.

The second time was from my lap to the bathroom tile floor (~2ft) B) . No problems at all this time.

I thought for sure it was done for after the first drop, but it turns out it can really take a beating!!

This thread's the first step towards a smashmygp2x.com site. :(

Had my gp2x in my jacket. I accidently dropped the jacket on a chair (about 1,5 feet).
Damaga: lcd screen protector broke.

would you be willing to part with it? for how much? a new stick is trivial, case repair even more so, and im sure i can get an lcd somewhere. even if its unfixable, its parts for mine.

My girlfriend mostly goes to bed before me (minutes to hours, it varies.) and I've found the Gippex a valuable resource in this aspect. Not only can I go to bed earlier because I can keep playing games in bed, but I can use the machine very effectively to light my way through the dark room, over my sleeping beauty, and into my side of the bed.

So thumbs up for my new, really expensive night light! :D

EDIT: I've yet to drop mine, which is a minor miracle. I've dropped my much more expensive iPod thrice, mostly onto concrete or asphalt. Still works, though. Phew. I do tend to drop things. My good ol' brick of a gameboy was frequently dropped and thrown, and it never stopped working once. It fell down the same, long flight of stairs at least twice.

If your girlfriend is in bed why are you still playing video games? :p
