I can only assume that this is a 3.5" drive, Because as you can see highlighted in the quote above from your link, It is supplied with and requires an external power supply. So, I would say definitely no, It will not work from the Pandora`s USB, Not without using the external power supply.

Do WD Passport drives still have the hidden VCD partitions? Even if you can see it it doesn't mean it's not there, I'd suggest getting the HP formatting utility mentioned in the article and zapping it. This is why I always buy OEM drives and separate enclosures even with 2.5 drives(that and 95% of the time it is cheaper).Alerino said:the passport one with 500gb works like a charm, no external supply needed
I got mine on an open box deal, the case was warped due to a molding error, but I cracked it open and used the bare drive in my notebook. I formatted it and reformatted it trying different distors and never even knew about that weird partition until I read that article. I guess whoever had it first turned off the partition with the WD software so it was just hidden(not deleted like the article says). That HP software was the only program that saw it and could get rid of it.Alerino said:second exodous said:Do WD Passport drives still have the hidden VCD partitions? in my ubuntu box, i cannot see it as a separated partition (although the article shows it as WD SmartWare), but all the bloatware is there (~600mb) :/
gparted finds a unnalocated partition sized at 1mb (might be something else)
I will maybe get rid of it, but no formatting for now, as i have plenty of data there. Thanks for the advice!

A lot more positive than i was before, I`m on loony pill`s at the moment, Which is great,
As i can say, Fart in public and not think a thing about it, Or just laugh it off.
This is great.
Anyway, Thanks for noticing.

This is good news, maybe WD has stopped with the weird partitions.Alerino said:just to clear up, all the bloatware is in the same partition as the other files, so i can delete them at anytime. (i think! didn't try yet)
