Hi all,

I just put up a new FreeSCI version. You can download it at http://www.retrovg.com/gp32/. These are the most important changes:
  • Sound support.
  • Faster saving.
  • Configuration file can now be in DOS/Windows text format.
Unfortunately this version will not restore save games from previous releases. Sorry about that.

I'd like to thank Hooka for testing FreeSCI and for giving me the motivation to continue development.

Great! Thank you for the new version (especially sound support). I started a few days ago Leisure Suit Larry 2 (if I have time, because I play a lot Phantasy Star 4 on DrMD :)). Chatboard works also great.

Please help me.
I can't get it to work....

Its a bit unconvertable that you are just
able to read the readme files on your gp32 <_<

How do i install freesci?
i've read something about a config file
but how to create a config file?

And does a compatibility list excist?
can i play games like space quest 5 and lsl6??

EDIT: please help!!
I just want to play space quest3!
tell me how! :(

Zorn: read the readme (and the readme.gp32) all the info to create a config file is there in addition to information about the games supported

SQ5 and LSL6 are a little too advanced for freesci for now but SQ3 is completeable (I finished it the other day infact)

The README and README.gp32 (with all information you need) are in the .zip archive. You can read these files before you install freeSCI on your GP32
The games are still under copyright, but Google (or another search engine) may help you to find games.
More information about the SCI games, that run with freeSCI will you find on the
freeSCI Homepage.

I know that you can read the readmes on your pc
but it's totaly messed up! only on your gp32 its looking normal....

I really can't understand these weird readmes.
maybe my english is to bad!

I've tryed to create a config file called
"config.CFG" it contains:
[sq3]
resource_dir=dev0:\gpmm\sq3

But it doesn't work... when i start freesci there is
no game in the list it restart by pressing any button :(

Can't you tell me step by step how play
space quest3 on my gp32?

I've done it like that:
put freesci.fxe into gpmm directory
load the SQ3 game on gp32 into a new folder
create config with game directory (SQ3)
start freesci.fxe and that's it... isn't it?

The config file needs to be in UNIX text format.

The files were in UNIX text format. I converted them to DOS text format now, so please re-download the zip file and try again.

The file looks ok, but it needs to be called just 'config', no extension, and you should put it in the \gpmm\freesci directory.

The version from gp32x.de

EDIT: sorry i can't find your (latest) version
with the dos text format!!!!
Download it from http://www.retrovg.com/gp32/.

Btw, I editted an earlier post to mention that the configuration file should be called 'config', not
'config.cfg', in case you missed it.

Unbelievable, you did it! I never thought you'd get sound working. Great work :)

And Quest for Glory is now working properly. Huzzah!

I did find out however that the music had the tendency to stop abruptly. Any ideas why this is happening?

It was quite a bit of work because I had to implement a basic multithreading library first.

Can you point out the games/scenes where this happened? And do you mean that music would stop and then you'd get no more sound at all in the entire game?
