Hi,
apologies if this isn't News Zone material, but i thought you'd be interested in a translation of ED's CeBit speech on open handhelds, so here you go.

Download the raw .srt subtitle files from the Pandora Archive: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/pandora.cgi?0,0,0,0,23,40
(When i update the file, it always takes a day or so until the new one is online, so if the archive doesn't contain the most recent .srt, try again in some hours)

I'll translate the other parts in the next couple of days if there is enough interest.
EDIT: I think i'll be done within the week.

Already watched both before the thread was up, You're pretty cool for posting them though.

Thanks for your application of talent.

Subs are fine. I want the other parts as well. Go go, translate.

;- )
B!

I would love to see other parts, I wasn't around for the beginning of gp32x.

Edit: Just got done watching the two parts.

I know I have been around only for a year, but EvilDragon reaffirmed why I want to be a part of the OpenPandora adventure. Granted, it was supposed to be released a while ago, and perhaps they could've coordinated better and released when the Pandora would've been the most powerful handheld console, but this is about something more. More than just amazing controls. This is about a community open source project, the power of linux and community development. I really appreciate that.

OP LLC. obviously was formed with the idea of a profit sometime down the road, but always present was a desire to realize what the community wants. The project is more about us than some lucrative buyout dream.

Maybe it was his story about homebrew games getting on the GP32... We live in an age when every corporate game developer wants to create a MMORPG grindfest, any sort of game that will maximize the number of dollars by creating the most shallow addictive gaming experience. The homebrew scene is about being interesting and fun, pure and simple fun.

Sorry for the gushing rant.

Can't wait for the other three parts. So glad I discovered this project and preordered a year ago. Let's hope assembly goes smoothly :p

it would appear that the subtitles were not properly applied to part 2 tho =(
Would you care to elaborate? For part 2 i used youtube's new (at least new to me) subtitle feature so i didn't have to render hardsubs here on my PC. But if there are problems i'd consider doing it the well proven way.
EDIT: I'd also appreciate it if a mod could fix the typo in the Topic name. Though i'm sure there are some typos in the subtitles as well

I can also say they work fine for me as well. He might be overlooking them because they are different looking (large white ones on vid one versus small ones with a black background).

Thanks for this, I just finished the second one, very interesting stuff. I too look forward for the rest to be done. I also saw that you've been doing this for ED's videos for a while, thanks for your efforts.

Damn it now I have to watch those :D

Subtitles are fine. The first video had nice ones but I can tell they were rendered on. Just use YouTube annotations/close caption thing if that is faster.

Thanks for your work!

oops, it seems it's just that my player doesn't support youtube subtitles. Don't worry about it if it's easier to do it that way; i'll just have to find a computer instead of watching it on my phone ;)

I'd be very interested in watching the rest with subtitles.

Thanks a lot! Actually, Kind of titles for part 2 is way better. They can be hidden or automatically translated to other language (still beta). And they are much more readable (better visibility).

EDIT: In this way (I guess) even ED can add subtitles to his original video.

I guess subtitles aren't supported on iPod touch either. Oh well, I can try again from a computer later.

Thanks Fishbong, a very good watch. I came into the community right after the GP32, and the GP2X was getting going, so it was good to hear a lot of what went on in the community, and how certain things came to be. A big thanks to Ed as well, it really makes me feel much more positive about this project, and how hard it must have been these last 2 years. Always just on the edge of release, and then miles away. I'm suprised you all aren't drunks, and heavy drug users at this point. :p
