now that we can clock our Pandoras to 1000mhz is dreamcast optimization going to be better? whatever happened to optimizing the mame .106 emulator?

Um, I don't want to overclock my Pandora.

I would say optimization would take advantage of all the bells and whistles the Pandora has without having to overclock.

The Dreamcast emulator needs to be finished before they can find the bottlenecks to optimize (more or less)

The fact that no one is currently even working on it due to lack of hardware kind of precludes optimization as well, overclock or no.

SteveM did the port. He's been busy. Last I remember he was working on nub supports for Mame4All, and he might have assistance from a new Dev to this scene from the iscene.

Nothing specific has been mentioned about .106 for some time.

How do you overclock to 1000...my pandora only goes up to 800.

You will also need to overvolt (turn up your OPP setting) to OPP5. Do not go past OPP5, or else you will void your warranty. Overvolting lets you overclock higher, but it will reduce your Pandora's life.

Sorry if I sound stupid but where is the OPP settings? I'm in XFCE but I can't seem to locate it.

nrrrp...I found it...there are two cpu settings. sorry

Keep in mind that some applications will respond better to overclock/volting than others: one application might run fine at 900Mhz while another crashes (possibly even the whole system) at anything over 750. Such is the nature of overclocking. Also note that some people will overclock better than others. Even overvolted, mine struggles to remain stable above 900Mhz while others can go as high as 1.2Ghz without problem.

You guys overclocking to 1+GHz and calling for more optimized emulators are going to be really disappointed when you find out that that optimization involves using NEON code and using NEON code involves lowering the overclocking headroom of the chip. There's a reason TI wasn't selling 65nm OMAP3s at 1GHz.

The ARMv7a version of nullDCe already uses NEON anyway. The thing about this is that it doesn't have to use it an awful lot for this to happen, just using any given instruction that takes more time than the clock speed allows.
