There's a team of modders remaking the first episode of doom 1, it's looking really good so far. And they're changing the monsters behaiour & models, so thay act and look more like the original.

The team seem to be very experienced and determined to do the game justice.

...Hope they add the old school shotgun!
they look like they have too much time on thier hands

bring it on!

Doom 3 comes with a builtin level editor nicknamed D3Radiant, which can be started by typing editor at the console ( in window mode ), or by passing +editor on the command line.
You can get tutorials here: http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144104.shtml

[edit]Here's a better place just read 'getting started' and carry on from there, lots of helpful pics etc...

Actually, I think I might have a go at making my first modded level myself. I'm thinking about one where the enterence of hell has opened up in the basement of KFC. What do you think?

Be sure to include a texture of those scary 'family photos' they used to have in KFCs. Those things gave it such a creepy atmosphere.

Yeah, except with demons and stuff on them. And bloodstains. And Colonel Sander's demonic eyes staring down at you. And a gigantic flaming popcorn chicken gun. Call it the 'KFC3000'

Okay, that might be a little beyond me at the moment. Good ideas though. How about: THE CYBERCOLONEL?
