Do Panic!

Yea you can take a train from here to Germany, straight through the tunnel. I almost took one home from Munich the Christmas before last. Actually I might be going back in the summer, maybe I could pop in on Ed!

Scotland literally smells of eggs now because of all the sulfur.
Really? H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide)?
I ask because the Hawaiian volcanoes smelled of burned matches SO2 (Sulfur dioxide).

"The last volcanic eruption beneath the glacier was on 20 March. The eruption before that started in 1821 - and continued for two years."

TWO YEARS! (™)

:p

Nah.

The last time Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano blew, the eruption lasted more than a year, from December 1821 until January 1823, reports Sally Sennert, a geologist at the Smithsonian Institution.

Less than 2 years :)

Mind you...

RT @BreakingNews Iceland volcano plume expected to cancel 21,000 flights today, may spread to Germany and Poland on Friday

I really can't help laughing :D . What else can possibly go wrong with this project?

English airspace now closed until at least 1AM Saturday. 1AM Friday (then 7AM then 13:30) were simply the volcano's version of "Two Months".

Transport by train from Germany, you say?

BERLIN — German authorities have halted flights to 11 of the nation's 16 international airports, including Frankfurt and Duesseldorf, as an ash cloud from Iceland's erupting volcano moves over Germany.

Germany's air traffic controllers DFS says the airspace over much of northern and western Germany is closed Friday, and flight patterns have been so severely disrupted it is hard to say when things will get back to normal.

Plus of course, everything that WAS travelling by plane is now trying to travel by ferry and train. Those vehicles could be busy for a day or two.
