@_wb_  No one is being rude here, so I don't know where you going with that. And yes, once again saying the song "All I need for Xmax"  = "I need a man to be fullfilled" as she says in the video, and then also saying Bieber singing the song is stalkerish is far fetched or shoe horning IMO.

As for the conception video, you must have missed the some 6-10 posts explaining my issues with it .  They were in amongst what you called the healthy discussion section
Please stop modifying your posts in the middle of the discussion without even indicating that you edited. It is very annoying. At the very least, it prevents me from noticing what you are saying. But it also allows you to "reply" to me in "the past", which is not very fair.

So yes, maybe I missed some of your posts, because I'm not going to re-read the whole thread to read all your newly added edits. But I don't remember any argument (one would be enough, I don't need 6-10) giving any reason to say that the conception/birth story of Jesus does not fit the "mystical pregnancy" trope.

If you call something someone says "rubbish" and "stupid far fledged shit", then that is not a very polite way to disagree with their argument (I didn't say it was rude, but I guess it is rude indeed), but more importantly, it does not add anything to the discussion in terms of counter-arguments.

I, for one, have not done the research on Mariah Careys song. I would put it down to her individual opinion, just as i blame her for making it.

But go ahead, take away her integrity to form opinions for herself to question her song on behalf of all women?

"Xmas" seems to be a concept justifying the assimilation of my culture, with added commercialism on the top. The big kicker here is that such is very alien to the concept of yule, which takes the whole thing into an alternate bizarro world.

I cant help it if I was editing my post while you were replying, But , I take your point, if I see someone has replied after making an edit , I'll point it out in future.so, all in all, sorry

As for mystical conception, I have no problem with it being under that heading, and have never said otherwise, I raised other concerns with it.

In regards to saying something Anita said was rubbish, to be frank that's probably the harshest word I've used on this forum.  That said , I find it hard to understand how to see it being rude. But if it upsets you, I'll refrain from using it

As a man, i must say this is the biggest stride she has taken for the feminist cause. She has taken back the objectification of women. We are all well aware that its the inside that counts. Judging by the male demographics response to her mental capacity, that wasn't working. In objectifying herself she has taken a willful step into recognition as a human being. If only by shallow males at the very most primitive of levels.

Looking through my collection, I find many games, where male and female characters are quite equally treatet and you even can play both of them,

the female characters do not even get a strength malus or menstruation problems - not any at all!

Women there are displayed stronger than they actually are, maybe just to calm down all the girls with inferiority complex.

Fallout 1,2,3,

The Fall,

Baldur's Gate 1+2,

Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines,

Icewind Dale 1+2,

Titan's Quest - Gold,

Sacred,

Neverwinter Nights 1+2,

Knights of the Old Republic 1+2,

Enclave,

Trine,

Diablo 1+2,

Edna and Harvey,

Torchlight

....

I could go on and on and on and I have real difficulty in finding discrimination there,

maybe in "Gothic", but that's just because most people have this image from medieval times,

which is not quite correct too, as I learned in reading some original books from this time.

In "Geheimakte Tunguska" (german game) you are a girl in rescue of her father and you switch between saving your stupid guy and the girl/maincharacter though him but most of the time the girl saves guys and the rest of the world on top of it.

"Braid" is not quite what it seems to be, you seem to be rescuing your girl, but everything turns out to be quite different.

Many or most of the modern feminists spread lies and do harm in both directions with it.
I don't think I have ever even seen any video game at all that has a plot element corresponding to a gender-reversed "damsel in distress".
Super Princess Peach for NDS:

Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon:

Zelda's Adventure:

Not reversed Damsel in Distress, but "No One Lives Forever 1+2" were cool games and there you have another female protagonist.

"Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2" comes to mind too, if I remember correctly: The damsel in distress is rescued by her strong sister there, pretty cool game, but really oversexualized.
I forgot "Super Mario Brothers 2", where you can play as peach already and because of her floating skill, she is the best character there.

Tomb Raider has gotten less sexualized over time and Blood Rayne exists too.

Anita is no gamer and she just does not know enough about this topic to tell someone about it.

In this regard, she is a stereotypical girl herself btw, her painted on eyebrows underline that. :D

Of course you can help it: just don't edit your posts like that! You can always just write a new post if you changed your mind or want to add something.

OK, so you agree that the conception/birth story of Jesus fits the trope. What exactly is your concern then? Maybe you don't agree with Sarkeesian's point that the "mystical pregnancy" trope has sexist undertones? All right, but why then do you single out that particular story as being problematic?

In regards to saying something Anita said was rubbish, to be frank that's probably the harshest word I've used on this forum.  That said , I find it hard to understand how to see it being rude. But if it upsets you, I'll refrain from using it
It does not upset me, you can use harsh words if that's your style - and I personally don't even have a problem with words that are far more offensive, although in my capacity as a mod my threshold is a bit lower than my personal one: personally I don't mind reading words like "fuck" and "shithead", but as a mod I sometimes decide to "clean up" such words. Words like "rubbish" are certainly not a problem at all.

I'm just pointing out that simply saying that something is rubbish, without any further argumentation as to why you think it is rubbish, does not constitute a useful contribution to a discussion.

_wb_

There is nothing wrong with editing your posts just after posting them, and before anyone else responds. I've noticed many others doing the same thing, if you have an issue with that, then I don't know what to say.

Also, I've already explained what I found wrong with the 3 examples I gave , lets no go over old ground over and over.

And that's why making it optional to show the "edit by" line is bad and should have been disabled long ago (but for some reason was overturned by some vocal guys from the community - even though there is no good reason to have this option enabled).

Next time you "do not get it", please just think about it more than 30seconds,

because some people here actually want to motivate others to do this, to break out of their well trained (often one dimensional) thought patterns.
Ah, was waiting for the good old 'oppressed by political correctness' routine :)

But I fear _wb_ is not the one on the well trodden paths here. That would be Mario Barth, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Barth for the ones lucky enough to not know him :)

"23 quotes from people that call themselves feminists but don't actually know what the word means" it should say.

I get so angry at any extremist viewpoint. Anyone that feels so strongly in their own opinion that no other valid solution is even remotely possible, and you are inherently wrong just for thinking or being a different way than their own.

I don't support any stereotyping of a minority. I understand their stance is such that it brings forward the horrible actions of a minority of men who are evil or are viewing women as a whole not equal to men, but they are stereotyping the majority of men with the minority is the problem. It's incredibly hypocritical. I'm married, I'm a good man, I take care of my nuclear family. My wife stays at home with the children while going to school. I treat my wife very much as an equal, yet according to some of these femi-nazis our mutual happiness should be abolished because it doesn't go along with their specific world view.

But the argument doesn't end with just extremist feminists, far right or far left political views, FSF, hate groups (KKK, skinheads, neonazis etc), anti-government groups, religious extremists etc etc, the list goes on. I guess I am an extremist against extremists, which is kinda ironic. The world would honestly be better off without them corrupting the minds of the influential.

On a tangent here. I have enjoyed the discussion very much. I do not want to derail it, but I think that in the following links there are some fundamentals discussed about the "new feminism" which should be considered.  They are audio shows.

Men not marrying? How deep does "the problem" go?

AVfM Radio - So you say you want a Matriarchy
23 Quotes From Feminists That Will Make You Rethink Feminism
The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.
So 9 women per man.  Ignoring the sexism here, I think some men would love the idea of that.

If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males.
Again, ignoring the sexism, I agree with the goal here.  As with the above, many men will like this (do they not consider that this will possibly result in men being more stereotypical?), and it is a very good step toward elimination of humans.  If they intend to maintain current population numbers, a very poor decision imo, by subjugating males, and only using them to maintain that population and other stupid stuff, but not considering them as potentially equal, is this not the same problem that they are reacting against?  I think that by reducing the the gene pool they would be creating unforeseen problems, or at least creating an environment where problems will have a vastly reduced chance of being fixed.

Many of these quotes may be taken out of context, but as presented they seem to show foolish people who aren't really thinking about what they are saying.  If you swap man/woman in a couple of them I am sure the person who originally said it would be furious.  Examples:

Men have their faults

women have only two:

everything they say

everything they do.

I do want to be able to explain to a 9-year-old girl in terms she will understand why I think it’s OK for boys to wear shirts that revel in their superiority over girls.

No biologist here, but would it really reduce the gene pool to reduce the fraction of men to 10%? Information stored in DNA doesn't depend on gender, and I don't know of anything which men contribute apart from their DNA (while women also have some additional information which only women can store or something, I've forgotten the details, I think it's in the egg cells). If because of this the world population was lowered, only then of course the size of the gene pool would decrease, but we have more than enough humans, that should certainly not pose any problems (citation: in the past there were much less humans and they got by just fine).

From a reproductional standpoint it shouldn't be a problem either, as long as polygamy becomes more accepted (something those same feminists would probably dislike, though).

Other than that: Those women aren't feminist in the traditional meaning of the word... but I think something which works for gender equality shouldn't be named after one gender anyway.
