There's a drug shoot center near an hospital at gare du nord in Paris.
The hospital is forced to pay bodyguards to escort the nurses.

Shooting up centre...a.k.a. Safe Drug Injecting rooms
Yeah I realised - I’m glad they have them (they do in Brighton as well) but personally I’d say the concept of being treated by medics who regularly shoot-up is at least slightly worrying...

Yeah, in western europe gun ownership is on the low side, at least outside of the criminal classes. That's excepting Switzerland where adult gun ownership after military training is considered a right I think.
I don’t know what the insides and outs of gun ownership are in Switzerland but I would be surprised if Swiss gun control wasn’t rather better than the right to carry in (some/many states of?) the US... :S

A lot of Swiss males are part of the army as reservists, and therefore have a military automatic rifle at home. Ammo stays at camps.
I held such a rifle back there. I felt like a real man.

In the US weapon sales went up.
One of the shops I walked in years ago had this gun for sale, it's pretty big, and had a sign in front of it stating that the shop holds the right to refuse a sale of this weapon.
Somebody with a lot of cash could just get a gun like that. I don't see a good reason to have this unless you're in the army.
They also had the Smith & Wesson .500 Magnum, it's very impractical but the blast from a single shot does have the effect of scaring everybody away.

Looks like this famous one:

Sidetracked maybe...

And looking at total cases, we haven't reached that flat curve yet. Obviously the situation is different per country but looks like it will be a while before we peaked worldwide.

Especially with US, Brazil, and probably India.
And we don't know yet if people contaminated twice have greater "chances" to die.

Breaking news, the now famous lab in Wuhan was partially funded by the USA:

Yes, a feller from I think Cambridge (UK) on the radio last week said he was working with that lab. They were tracking the spread of novel coronaviruses across China, because they anticipated that's where the next SARS will come from. It was valuable work so it was getting money from everywhere.

Breaking news: it's been around four days that there's no information about elderly centers (EHPAD) deaths in France.
Strictly ZERO information, even in regional press.
I've got an (possible) explanation for that from a cousin who just lost someone there:
Every death in EHPAD is treated with a covid protocol, but cause of death is never marked as covid.

Is it a joke? Every evening the new official numbers are up (https://dashboard.covid19.data.gouv.fr/)
Of course you won't believe these numbers (although France is one of the few countries who actually give statistics about EHPAD), but they do exist.
And also worth mentioning that it was a long weekend, so everything is a bit delayed.
